In my head it was pure Mr T. I literally was able to picture him saying the words. His greatest role in years! BTW, we’ve been hearing for years how Bush was the anti-Christ incranate (amusingly from many atheists) and would deliver America to Hell in a handbasket. Kinda like how the Religious Right said abortion and open homosexuality (let alone gay marriage) would lead us down the same path. I’d say we’re doing pretty well. I don’t judge a country’s strength or health based on what other countries “think” or “feel” about them. I judge it on what they actually do in the world. Arbitrarily I’d have to set the number at 6 nations under military occupation (define it as you will) to be considered Warmongering. In addition, those 6 would have to be cases where it is wholly obvious to all (not just those that think it even when the count is zero) that the country is out to take over and enslave the populus for nefarious purposes. (That was 25% tongue-in-cheek) Besides, isn’t the scope of world politics supposed to be cerebral instead of emotional? Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe we never really do leave high school. Maybe it is all a popularity contest. Maybe everyone, left and right that say the Republic is falling apart 3 seconds after a change are really the same beast. Other than what the issue is and who’s fighting it, the result an rhetoric are the same. And again, now that information and debate occur simultaneously with no chance of being able to step back and review it before opinion is galvanized, enjoy these days everyone. It’s probable, IMO, that 10 years from now we’ll all seem pretty tame and thoughful in our debates of what happened this afternoon. By then people may see it as quaint to wait 2 hours to make Earth-shattering declarations of any given issue reported. ---
