**Jim** I hear roller derby wimmen don’t take kindly to those who are all willy-nilly with their tp stock. 😛 Back from a late N.O.L./early dindin at the good Eyetalian place. Yeah we went at two-thirty. Neither of us had eaten N.O.L. so we et. Pretty much had the place to ourselves which was kinda nice. Anywho, I figure that biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig ol’ helpin’ of nummy homemade lasagna will hold me the rest of the day. Thus it has been here at da cave. Laziness has ensued all the livelong day. ---

Riding by on a highway doesn’t give one much of a sense of a city. The ride was about 90 minutes to the wheel. The ride from the bottom canal to the upper one took 4 minutes, then we rode down to a basin where we could turn around. There were locks at each end of the wheel portion of the canal, and at the lower one, we saw a boat being lowered to the next canal. The guide told us the wheel replaced 3 locks, and a trip that used to take over an hour now took 4 minutes. And the locks and wheel are free – the wheel was financed by the national lottery. We wandered to the city center and found a place to have lunch – cream of potato and leek soup with crusty bread – yummy! After eating, we wandered thru the streets, window shopping, and just looking around. We went into a small store that reminded me of Dollar General because Mom wanted to get some Lemon Curd to bring home. She found some, plus other things, and luckily, they took VISA, since we didn’t have any pounds. > > We passed a McDonald’s and a Domino’s Pizza – you can’t get away from fast food! We wandered in a shopping mall that was more empty than occupied. Finally, we just sat and waited till time to go to the bus. Off in the distance at one point, we could see the monument to William Wallace off in the hills. Unfortunately, the castle wasn’t visible from town, and it was up some very steep hills, so we didn’t even go see the outside. The ride back caught part of rush hour, but even at that, we returned to the ship a little earlier than scheduled, which was nice. We had time to get changed for supper. > > Supper this evening was a trip – we sat with 3 couples, 2 who were nice normal folks. The male half of the third couple made sure we all knew that they had money – saying how he didn’t want his friends with Bentleys to know that he only drive a Lexus. Oh, and there was the surprise that he was able to afford a condo in Florida so they could escape Toronto 3 months of the year. Yeah, he was something else. I’m sure there was more, but we had more engaging conversations with the others beside us, including the couple next to me who’d once lived in Waldorf, which is about 25 miles from where we live! Plus the man of that pair had been in the Navy, so we talked about that a bit, even tho he was a nuke. > > The show this evening was a juggler. Dublin – and Guinness - tomorrow, and we don’t get our bus till 1, so we can sleep in. Yeah, right – I was up a little after 5 this morning. Sleep in? It is to laugh! But that’s fine. I want to go to the tour office and change our plans for Edinburgh – we’ve figure out that wandering around on our own for 6+ hours is just too much. I’ll try to get us on a half-day bus tour. > > We’ve been availing ourselves of fruit-in-the-room. They leave us an order sheet every day and we can request fresh fruit to be left for us. We got pears 3 days ago – I think they’ll finally be ripe enough tomorrow. I’ve also been enjoying the melon from the buffet – Mom says it’s called Persian Melon – the inside looks like cantaloupe but the rind is smooth and pale green. It doesn’t taste exactly like ‘lopes, but it’s very good. I’m going to miss that when this cruise is over. > > As of today, we’ve been away from home for a week – in some ways it feels a lot longer. Three weeks to go. The weather has been really nice, if a bit cool, but I have 2 cardigans and a hoodie, and I’ll layer up for Iceland. For now, it’s like autumn and mostly pleasant. Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. _YAWN_ 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 95 for the day and maybe rain. We shall see. I looked up the Falkirk Wheel. I want to ride the Falkirk Wheel. It’s so 🆒! **Rosie** glad you had a good time. We anxiously await tales from nerd camp. 😃 Today is back to irk day. I wonder if they got the whole place painted. I will be an unhappy bear if’n I show up and see my little space did not get painted bein’ as we took stuff off the walls and unplugged and covered up 'puters and such. I do not want to hook up 'puters just to have to unhook 'em yet again this Firday. Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. Oh well, at least it’s a four day week. Happy Tuesday Y’all! ---

Afternoon all! Just spent some of the morning taking junk to the tip for someone who advertised on the local Craigslist equivalent (she needed to get it all out by the end of the day to get the deposit back) . Actually paid pretty well! So… anyone got any odd jobs? 😃 I wonder if there’s some fishies who spend all day playing in the Falkirk wheel? Really lazy salmon? These patch tests are driving me nuts- itchy itchy itchy, can’t take 'em off… That might mean I’m getting a positive result to something, or might just mean my skin doesn’t like having stuff stuck to it for several days. Dunno, will hopefully find out tomorrow. Anyway, 'tis mother’s birthday today, so I shall go call her up. I didn’t sent her a card 'cos I was going to stick some seeds in with it, and forgot the seeds when I went to town. I don’t think she really cares, so long as I actually remember. Happy toosdy! ---

Happy Toosday! It’s a muggy 76 degrees, supposed to get up to 90 and have thunderboomers today. Today is laundry day and pizza day. I am looking forward to the pizza. For the first time in my life I can say I had horrible hospital food. Before tales of the weekend, I must tell y’all last night’s dream before it fades completely My high school was being overrun with pod people. I was Sarah Jane Smith and had to figure out how to save everyone without the Doctor’s help. I managed to get outside without being detected, where I found Rupert Giles and the head of the Watcher’s Council who told me I had the power (apparently now I was Buffy). I said I needed help accessing it, so Giles imbued me with the magical forces my father had given him to hold for me (so now I’m Luke Skywalker?). I ran to where the spaceship was hiding in the clouds over the US Merchant Marine Academy (which was, IRL, a mile from where I grew up) and found some members of the resistance movement. Apparently, the frequencies/vibrations (whatev) of Mozart’s Requiem was painful to the aliens, so a kid with a giant 90s boom box played it at full volume, which cleared the clouds, but suddenly we were on the ship. The kid revealed himself to be a pod person, so I shoved him off the edge, and he shattered upon impact like something ceramic. I then turned to the advancing alien guards and held my hands out to shoot my powerful magic at them. It took out enough guards that the rest of the resistance could easily overtake the rest. Now I’m back on the ground, as Sarah Jane, talking to Four, who said “You did WHAT all by yourself? That’s utterly fantastic!” Then I woke up. ---

Ummmmm… I’ll have some of what **Rosie** is havin’ or had last night. 😃 **doggio** just what the heck is that supposed to be? The orifice is all freshly painted. YAY! ‘Puters are all put back together (well, duh!), and stuff is slowly but surely gettin’ back up on the walls. No major whineage has occured so far. However, fresh paint makes my sinuses all achy. Then again, I expected that. I’m told we shall get new carpet sometime in the next few weeks. We’s gettin’ all kinds of spiffed up! ---
