Howdy Y’all! Home from Agape soup 'n sammich. Tonight I had a very nummy cream of tomato soup that was just full of cheese. YUM! The chikin noodle soup was also a hit if’n I do say so myself. We (the master cooks of our annual St. Pat’s dindin that is) also firmed up the plan for cookin’ up the feast. Firday evenin’ we shall gather to cook the corned beef, peel and chop veggies etc. in prep for Sattidy. See, the briskets get cooked the night before, wrapped, and placed in the fridge. Then on Sattidy they get sliced (they slice better cold). The broth gets reheated for the root veggies and cabbage to cook and once the broth is warm, we ladle it over the pans of sliced corned beef and set the pans in the convection oven which is set on warm. By servin’ time it’s all nice and warm and sooooooooo tender! Sattidy mornin’ will be devoted to preppin’ the chikin (laigs and chikin strips) with a poultry rub. I like for the chikin to set in the fridge with the rub on it for a couple hours. Then it’s grilled and basted with a mixture of honey and just a little bit of Guiness stout for flavor. NUMMMMMMMMMMMY STUFF! We are preparin’ enough for a hunnert and fifty folks which for us is a hyuuuuuuuuuuge crowd. There shall also be Irish soda bread, dark chawklit brownies with ice cream and hot fudge and shamrock cookies. Oh and green beer. Let us not forget the green beer! 😃 Plus Irish music with a singalong even. We be doin’ it up St. Pat’s style! And on that note I shall go check out another couple things on teh intartoobz and then it’s sleepy time. Nitey Nite Y’all! ---

Happy Thorsday! It’s a dark, 35 degrees outside. My body has decided it likes waking at 3am, staying up until 5am, and then taking a nap in the afternoon. I’ tired of fighting it so I am up. Sometimes when you take too long to make a decision you have the decision thrust upon you. It may not be your first choice but then you find you have no choice. Another morning with the thermometer showing far too few degrees. Dammit. \*\*FCD \*\*just left for work. He showed me what he’s been working on - a support rack for a server. Can you say “Overdesigned”?? The server doesn’t even weight 20#. The rack consists of 2 angles made from 1/4" aluminum, 2 slides made from 5/8" aluminum, each pair held together with 5 quarter inch bolts. The rack components weigh more than the server!! I don’t know where the designer got her engineering degree, but she should demand a refund! _eeeeesh_ What’s really funny is that his company is a subcontractor to the company he used to work for, and he refers to his ex-coworkers as “those idiots.” 😃 OK, to be fair, he called them idiots before he left that place, but it’s still pretty funny to me. Maybe I’m just easily amused. Today’s big plan is washing some towels. I’m not going to hang them out because the weather is supposed to get icky this afternoon and I don’t want to be rushing outside to gather half-dried towels in the ick. I’ll also run a load in the dishwasher and clean the ol’ George Foreman, since I didn’t feel like cleaning it last night. And then there’s the mess on my desk… ugh. In the back of my mind, today is somebody’s birthday. Yeah, I know, every day is _somebody’s_ birthday, but I get the feeling that I should know someone who’s celebrating today. Or I might be confused. A former bf was Oct 19 and a classmate from elementary and high school was Dec 19. Today may be meaningless. Who cares - I’ve got towels to wash. 😃 Happy Thursday.
