All right, boys and girls, _Dopeka_ will be held August 11th. Which means next Sunday. Which means those of you coming to my Spooky Mansion will probably want some directions. (The original thread where we set this up, by the way, can be found [here.](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=122940)) Those of you who are coming, please e-mail me for directions. We’re not ignoring you, really. We just want to see how many times you’ll shamelessly bump this thead. 😃 ::Looks left, right, left:: Ahem. ::Gives thread a good jab with elbow:: I’m on vacation at the moment and posting from an ancient PC at my mother-in-laws on a (gasp!) 28.8 modem. I’ll be back in town on the 7th but my plans for the 11th have changed little. I thought I would be working days by then but that will not be the case. I’ll still be bringing the chitlins for target practice but I may be a bit on the tired side as I get off work at 7:30 AM that morning. Hell, maybe we’ll be the only participants. I will miss **auntie em** ’s unfettered bits and **Baker** ’s pies though. I just saw **Enderw24** post in another thread tonight. Mebbe he’ll catch this thread. Say hi to Cecil and the ex’s mother for me. Am I still bringing the hamburger and buns? ---

Mr., I will shamelessly bump this thread as much as possible until one of two things happen: 1.) I single-handedly bump this thread up high enough that it ends up with the most posts ever for, well…_any_ type of thread. Ever. Ever-ever, ever. 2.) I get banned for making an ass out of myself. (An inevitable circumstance regardless of whether it happens in this thread. Furthermore, I shall tempt revenge of the evil Nazi-Mods by proudly talking about how I should put _myself_ on my ignore list. I hate myself, really, and I just don’t want to read my posts anymore; they just piss me off.) 3.) I learn to count to two–and then avoid moving on to three and four after I say something like “one of two things”. 4.) Y’all show up at the Spooky Mansion. Well, according to originating thread, we last had semi-firm committments from: **Auntie Em Baker Ender Gary T Horseflesh psychomonkey SkipMagic The Unnameable** Now, I plan on making an appearance. **Horseflesh** , you’re, like, cool because even though you’ll be tired and worn-out, you’ll still bring the little 'uns. **Auntie Em** , I believe, still plans on showing up. That leaves the rest of the list and any other Dopers in the area next weekend who want to come out and play. **Horseflesh** is bringing hamburgers and buns; I’ll be supplying hot dogs, buns, drinks, vegetable and cheese platters, the Mansion, grill, furniture, air-conditioning (for those of you not manly enough to handle heat-strokes or dehydration), bratwursts and most other food items that might be suggested in this thread. By the end of this weekend, I’ll probably e-mail those who mentioned interest in the last thread. You know, for harrassment purposes. And I’m lonely. Very much so. (By the way, **Horseflesh** , Cecil and the Prisoner Mom give a shout-out to you, too.) 🙂 ---

**Tattva,** we’re sorry you can’t make it. Well, where are the directions, huh, huh, huh? You can’t have my pie if you don’t tell me how to get it there! But seriously, unless something major intervenes I will be there, and I have already answered the email to that effect. **Auntie em** will probably see this thread and any email tomorrow at her workplace. As I said in the email, I need this last fling before school starts. I’m dusting off the old whip and chair, because starting Sunday the 18th I morph back into being a Sunday School teacher, so I won’t be able to use any old excuse to miss church. Again seriously, the kids I have in SS are great really. Most of them are a lot smarter and more advanced than we grownups give them credit for. Don’t _ever_ talk down to them! ---

A couple o’ tangs: 1.) **Ender** gave an excellent suggestion the other day and I simply forgot about posting it. It is: if you’re coming from Lawrence, you can take the K-10/I-435 route to KC _OR_ you can hop on to I-70 East to I-670 to I-35, much like the Topekans. The K-10 route is free, while the I-70 way runs across a toll section. The I-70 route will save you about ten minutes worth of driving; however, you’re giving up ten minute’s worth of prime Kansas scenery, so choose carefully. 🙂 2.) Kearney has started a bit o’ construction during these mildly warm days, so when you take a right on to highway 92 (the Kearney exit from I-35 North), please be aware that 92 has a lot of orange and white decorative barrels. It shouldn’t hold you up, but just an FYI. 3.) I like pie. ---

I _finally_ checked my e-mail today… I haven’t checked it in weeks! Sadly, I will not be able to attend the dopefest. As I said in my reply to Skip… my hubby is golfing that day which leaves me at home with the kids. ☹ You guys have a fantastic time, take lots of pictures, eat and drink until you’re about to bust, and post the details Monday!! ---
