I’m a few weeks behind, but must note Maroun’s first solo case, which takes place in an alternate universe in which women newscasters were a new thing in 2006 (yes, there was then, and still are obstacles to women in all sorts of fields, including TV news, but the episode is written like “twenty years ago” was 1975.

Also, Jack McCoy had his college buddy arrested and imprisoned, so Maroun breaking her relationship with her mentor is just not that dramatic

I think Cutter had a “mentor” episode, too.

Having heard too many not particularly positive things about the continuation, I decided to pretend it didn’t exist for several years and just be happy with the 20 amazing years that we got during the original run. But then it came to Netflix and my queue started getting awfully empty, so I decided to have a look. I can’t say I’m impressed. After starting off with an uninteresting run-through of Bill Cosby’s crimes, we get an equally uninteresting take on Elizabeth Holmes. Frank Cosgrove is as big of a clod as I was warned he would be. And Nolan Price doesn’t hold a candle to any of his predecessors. But will I keep watching? At least for a spell, yeah. Once the DUN DUN gets its hooks in you, it’s hard to let the DUN DUN go.

Season 26 is out. No cast changes.

(I am one week behind). The season opener dealt with a murderous AI. We are bordering on sci-fi (or reality has finally caught up with sci-fi!). The episode had echoes of Colossus: The Forbin Project, and STTOS The Ultimate Computer.

On the one hand, the law team didn’t commit any ethical violations, or act stupid. On the other hand, the writing is still barely above fan fiction, and the verdict came out of…nowhere. The legal issues dealing with AI are complex, and would make a fine movie but the show just ignored most of that and made no compelling arguments that would lead to the verdict. Oh well.

You spoke too soon.

I will wait a bit with details in case it would be a spoiler, but yeah, one detective leaves and we get a new one

You ain;t kidding. I didn’t see that coming.

Are they just going for everyone is corrupt, or is that supposed to be OK?

And yes, Price has no balls! That’s a fact, Jack.

As opposed to McCoy who was a proponent (literally) of “hang them all.” Always thinking of weird and unusual ways he could bring felony charges against people only tangentially involved.

Gunshow is my personal most hated episode. So I agree. But Price can’t even stand up to Maroun, let alone say what’s on his mind to Baxter.

In the real world, Reid Scott, who played Detective Vincent Riley, wanted out of the role because he lives on the West Coast and the show films in New York.

Yeah, that one was really bad. And you are right about the other points.
