The Sequel.

Maybe a new thread isn’t the ideal, hard to know, but the tired old warhorse is a tired old whore horse, and should be left alone. Maybe. Anyway, fans of wretched skulduggery, here we go! Wheeeee!

Those of us with the memory that exceeds the common goldfish will recall Il Douche’s famous “I Wuz Robbed!” thunderbolt of bullshit. How he was the victim of Voter Fraud, somewhere between three and five million “illegal” votes by the Whore of Babylon, AKA Ms Clinton.

“But”, we said, “you have no facts!” So, he decided to get some. (For the purposes of this exercise, I will assume that “facts” are the same as facts, as they appear to be in the mind of Himself. The little chunks of verifiable truth that, taken as a pattern or a _gestalt_, constitute reality. I regret that this view has become a partisan one. Boy, do I _ever_ fucking regret.)

So, Il Douche decides to establish a Big Hairy Ass Fucking Deal Commission to investigate. (If this is news to you, kindly bugger off, you are too ill-informed to participate…) And to head up this crapulous exercise, he names the Baron Buttmunchhausen, Mr. Kobach. Who’s stern commitment to non-partisan truth and candor is the stuff of legend.

The mission of the BHAFDC is not entirely specific, it is either to prove that it happened and do something about it, or just skip over the obvious part and do something about it anyway.

All of this is prelude. For a while there, looked like it was just another high level hissy fit. But no, we are sinful, and deserving of The Wrath, The Sending.

What could possibly go right?

Notes from the OP, your correspondent from the conservative wing of the extreme left…)

Item _Numero Uno_ I have posted this thread to the Pit, partially out of deference to the already standing thread on the subject of Republicans throwing Lady Liberty down and giving her a jolly good rogering, and partly because I fully expect to swear.

Item _Numero-two-o_: for the purposes of this thread, the abbreviation “L+C” will stand in the place of “legal and Constitutional!”. If it is true, its still wrong, and if its not true, he’s gonna do it anyway. And it will save some typing.

There. I have inaugurated the proceedings with the obligatory weeping, gnashing to teeth and tearing of garments. So, boys and girls, pals and gals… **What The Literal Fuck!**

My outrage on the request to gather, and publish, all voter information is tempered by the fact that this Kobach kangaroo kommission asked for information that is already publicly available.

Kobach still seems like a total idiot, however.

That’s strange, since the article cited in the OP says “While the files are technically public records, states usually charge fees to individuals or entities who want to access them. Political campaigns and parties typically use these files to compile their massive voter lists”

The article cited in the OP was just one of many. I make no claims for it, nor about it. Does seem to me, just off the top, that the level of specificity…past voting records, fragments of SS numbers, etc…seems more than just the level offered by “public records”.

'Course, could be that everything is already available without reference to any Russians, which would imply that those refusing are indulging themselves in a pointless exercise. Ya think?

Look, old Vladi is getting positively tuckered out having to run from one precinct to the next hacking all those individual databases. It would be so much simpler if they were all nicely compiled into one big database, preferably one secured with an easy to remember password like “toRussiawithlove”.

Is ‘voting history’ a history of if you voted, rather than who you voted for.

I think this is it. When you voted, in what precinct, how you were registered, in which national/state/local elections did you vote, that kind of thing. There’s no way they could have the information on who you actually voted for. Right? I mean, that’s right? Isn’t it? Is my vote for Fred Grandy in the Iowa gubernatorial (love that word) Republican primary in 1994 going to be public knowledge and shame me forever?

Still, that voter history is valuable information. Allows those both nefarious and not to zero in on likely voters in particular key precincts.

You know, whether this is really public record or not, it does not reflect kindly on Trump/Kobach/et al. I mean, if your rallying cry is “5 million illegals voted for Hillary! That’s why I won the electoral college! Er, I mean, that’s why FAKE NEWS says I didn’t win the popular vote, which I did, in a landslide of historical proportions, bigly!” I suppose asking for records on every. single. solitary. American. voter is, like, the only way to find out, right? But, yeah … what a bunch of crybaby whiners we’ve got here.

Voting history as in whether you voted or not. That is public record.

States undoubtedly do charge for this data but probably not that much more than cost, since its prime use would be by politicians. Personally, I think the states are within their rights to insist that any commission pony up.

But the letter asks for whatever info is already part of the public record of that state. So if a state has one’s voting participation as public record, they are asked to supply that; if the last four of a voters SSN is not part of the public record, the kommission is not asking for that.

Frankly, seems like the kommission is just being lazy.

When I vote, my ballot is numbered, and that number goes into the voter registration book.

I assume that that data is not collated to defeat the blind ballot process, but it certainly could be, the information does in fact exist.

How difficult it would be to collate, I don’t know. It could require pulling out all the individual ballots and comparing them to the voter registration book, or it could be automatically tallied as soon as I put my ballot into the scanner.

I can’t think of any reason to believe that anyone involved in the political process (candidates, parties, etc) doesn’t already have this information that is already publicly available.

Maybe there’s some reason why having all of this data aggregated is a bad thing, but for crying out loud, this sure sounds like the kind of stuff that the political parties in all 50 states would already have at their fingertips. I would assume that the national parties would also have it, given that their constituent state parties have it.

You can put your mind at ease. Hans von Spakovsky, noted champion of voting rights and integrity, has also been appointed to the BFHADC. With him and Kurt Knoblick heading this up, we can all be assured of scrupulous integrity and non-partisanship.

Seems to me that the line “…subject to the availability of appropriations…” means that Congress must pony up the dough. So far as I know, no such effort has been made.
