# The Right Hand of God

I just want to say that I fully, wholeheartedly agree with every single word, without exception, that **Morrison’s Lament** has said so far in this thread. And Morrison, I’m glad you said it.

Am I the only one who sees some true worth in the fact that many of this young man’s friends even SHOWED UP??? Okay, fine, slam the blue jeans. I attended two funerals, one in the summer after 12th grade, one about 8 months later. We dressed in suits and dresses. Didn’t make us ANY more grown up, but that was the custom and practice, and so we did it. I think that my friend’s parents would have been JUST as stunned by the numbers of teenagers at their daughter’s funeral if we’d been wearing jeans and flannel shirts. ( Approximately 30-40 family members, over 100 teenagers. They were stunned ).

Who knows. If one person staring at that body has a second thought, or somehow finds the inner strength to fight their habit, then their presence was of value to themselves. Otherwise, it was of value to his family. I don’t find that to be a source of derision.

The clothes do not make the man/woman.

**Scylla** , through your almost uncountable and often very compassionate posts here, I hope to have a good sense of your character. I am obliged to be revulsed by such a farce as you have described (and sadly, endured) above.
