The Right Wing Daily Show Is Coming!

On the other hand, I don’t like jalapeno, but I enjoyed jalapeno ice cream because I think the sweetness of the ice cream somewhat offsets the bite of the jalapeno.

When “Right Wing” and “Babe” are put together, Monica Crowley MUST be part of the conversation!

Wait, didn’t they already do this? I think I’m going insane.

Well, this has been echoed once already, but it really hits the nail on the head. Too many right wing humorists remind me of an old coworker who used to make jokes about his ex wife. Occasionally, he’d pull out a funny one, but for the most part, there was a veil of hatred and bitterness.

Not only that, but anyone who’s watched more than a few episodes of The Daily Show would be well aware that, even before the most recent election, Stewart frequently poked fun at Democrats and at folks on the left.

I agree, which is why I mentioned O’Rourke. He was funny before he became right-wing, and it all works well together.

Guess anything’s good when you’ve got the munchies.

Gotta get baked and watch Coulter one of these days…

The Pelosi thing with the kids was pretty funny. And yeah, Kerry’s pretty easy to make fun of, what with being a political moron and all. Stewart lit into Biden pretty hard, too. I guess, on reflection, he will still find plenty to work with.

But… will his audience morph over time? Lotta people cain’t take a joke.

Oh, I guess I thought this was already done because of this review that I saw a few weeks ago: http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2007/01/fncs-daily-show-ripoff-falls-flat.php

Well, Doonesbury socks it to lefties as well as righties, and plenty of us lefties enjoy it. Heck, that strip does a funnier and better job of satirizing the silliness of the left than Mallard Fillmore’s wildest dreams.

No. You thought it was already done because it was already done. This is elucidator’s 2nd kick at this can. Either 3 pages wasn’t enough or he forgot about the other thread in a haze of weed.

About a year or so ago wasn’t this tried? Or maybe it was just them talking about it… Either way I remember hearing something else a while later that it either tanked or screenings got abismal ratings…

I swear I heard something about it…

See the linked thread in CarnalK’s post. We dissed this back in November.

Ah… had the reply window open for a long time while Googling around… Didn’t see your post there, CarnalK.

Thanks. I honestly thought I was going insane. Not that this is proof I’m not.

Well, I doubt he would lose many of his current viewers; but it would make his show more palatable to righties.

 You say that as if it was a negative thing . . .

Wait, Rush as president and Coulter as VP?

That’s not comedy-that’s a horror flick!

Yeah, this is why I expect this new show to suck. Mallard Fillmore sucks because it set out to be “The Rights Doonesbury” not realizing that Doonesbury, while possesing a liberal bent, main purpose is to entertain. Indeed Tredeau’s worst strips are usually around contested elections, when he decides to use the strip as a Soapbox first and a media for telling jokes second.

Likewise the Daily Show’s first purpose is to entertain, it may reflect the liberal views of its writers/host somewhat (though its hard to tell, since most of the people in power for the last 6 years have been Conservative Repubs). I predict the Fox version will try and cater to its viewer politics first and sense of humor second, and end up being 90% snark, which isn’t really funny except in very small doses even if you agree with the person making the jokes.

I’m going to steal a wiser, funnier man’s line about Coutler’s “hotness”: I wouldn’t fuck her with someone else’s dick.
