# The Ring 2 - How will it be?

Based on the trailer, it looks like it will be creepy as hell. Being directed by Hideo Nakata (who made the Japanese Ring films as well as the very well-made Dark Water), it ought to be.
American script, which is okay with me, since I largely preferred the story and structure from The Ring to that of Ringu anyhow. As long as the script doesn’t have things like the following (The Ring spoilers, kinda), I’ll be fine with it.
Samara starts climing out of TV.
CUT TO:
Car chase.\*
CUT TO:
Samara out of TV.
But, then, The Grudge had the same director as the Japanese version yet was less effective somehow (timing seemed off), so we’ll see. I do have high hopes though. 🙂
\*Yes, I know it wasn’t technically a car chase, but it had the screeching tires and everything, IIRC, so close enough.

I’ll say that having seen both, I prefer the Ring. The overall feel of the movie was creepier. I haven’t seen the whole trilogy though. Are the rest available on DVD here in the states?
And the car chase was likely somebody driving urgently. If Samara hops in a car and drives off… :mad:
I think the new one looks good. Definitely something that I will go see.

Will Daveigh Chase still be playing Samara? I assume she’s still growing, how will they explain Samara getting larger? And does anyone else get confused when the voice of Lilo is evil?

I have the complete trilogy on DVD and didn’t like Ring 2 or Ring 0 at all.
I saw Ringu before I saw the Ring and really liked it.
After seeing the Ring, I had to conclude that the remake was much, much better.
The only thing better in the original version is the girl that plays Samara (she was also called Samara, right?) has much creepier body-movement.

The story and structure were pretty much identical between Ring and Ringu, weren’t they? I saw both, and thought they matched nearly scene-for-scene.

Sadako in the Japanese originals. I really like the remake, but nothing beats the backwards going forwards creepy shit going on in the original cut.
Apparently they’re not using the same plotline as Ringu 2 or 0, its going to be different. I look forward to this.

Actually there were some differences in the back-story of Sadako/Samara between the two versions.
The pacing and structure were exactly the same.

Daveigh Chase is not playing Samara in the sequel.
I’m looking forward to it. I felt Ringu had less of the jumpy scares of The Ring, which ended up slowly creeping me out as opposed to spiking my blood pressure. I far preferred Sadako to Samara.

And for reasons such as these I prefer the japanese. Also, they made a lot more sense; they explained the backstory, as opposed to “she never sleeps”. And Ring 0 is more than a horror movie.

OK, I’ll resist the urge to type on and on about how much I liked _The Ring_. Everyone should know my feeling about it by now. 😉
That said, _I can’t freaking wait to see the sequel!_

I’m kind of wary about the sequel… first of all because I think it’s going to suck and I don’t want to taint my thoughts of the originals and second of all because I’m afraid they’ll explain too much of the backstory, which was one of my least favorite things about Ringu.

Btw, is this sequel going to be based on “Ringu 2” or “Rasen (Spiral)”? The first was a decent horror movie, while the second (which was based on Suzuki’s book sequel to Ringu) was some pretty weird sci-fi.
As for my opnion on Ringu v. The Ring, Ringu will always be my favorite, but I still really enjoyed The Ring.

Neither. The plot’s too far gone to follow either. Well, if you could say the ring _had_ a plot. :rolleyes:

Well, it was unexpected, to say the least. I guess it was better for her than in _Rasen_, where she and Yuji are in a car crash, only afterwards their faces are found to be twisted into the same looks of terror that Sadako’s other victim’s had. Somehow that whole “Pass it on and you’ll be safe” theory had a flaw in it somewhere.
I did think it was kind of amusing, though, that the dad’s girlfriend, a pretty minor character in the first movie, became a focal character in _both_ sequels.

Both? What did she have to do in Ring 0? I don’t remember her at all.
