One fascinating scenario would be the Bills and Vikings in Super Bowl LIX: two teams who are 0-4 in Super Bowls, and one of them finally will win it. Also, Chargers, Vikings, and Lions — they’ve never won a Super Bowl. And the Lions have never even gone to a Super Bowl. ---

The Chargers and Lions have won championships pre Super Bowl but it’s obviously been a while. ---

I ran across a very odd factoid. This will be the 8th wildcard game that the Houston Texans have made it to. The first was in 2011, and the latest will be this Saturday. Every single time they have played in a wild card game, no matter where it was played, it has always been at 3:30 PM CST (the time local for Houston) on a Saturday. A fun article in the Guardian today with their writers’ predictions. Unsurprisingly, there was general agreement on the team that be missed most (Bengals) and the high seed at risk of getting beat (Chiefs). Both Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (concussion, finger) and Packers QB Jordan Love (elbow) are listed by their respective teams as full participants in Thursday’s practices, boding well for both being able to play on Sunday. ---

The last time there was a conference championship round with a high level of desperation was 2002, in which the Titans, Bucs and Eagles had never won a Super Bowl, and the Raiders hadn’t won one in a long time. I’m hoping we get something like Vikings vs Lions and Bills vs Chargers this time. ---

While I won’t predict it, I do think it would be fun to see a Packers/Chiefs rematch of Super Bowl I I wasn’t alive for that one, but I would have preferred the Bart Starr/Lombardi era Packers to win Super Bowl I as they did. No idea which of the two evils I’d support in a Super Bowl LIX. ---

Yeah that would be fun, but it’d be more fun to see one with the Lions or Vikings versus Bills or Texans or Chargers. Especially Vikings versus Bills, both 0-4 in Super Bowls. I was alive for Super Bowl I, then called the AFL–NFL World Championship Game, but was too young to even care. I started caring at Super Bowl VI, Cowboys vs Dolphins, and I was pulling for the Dolphins back then but they got spanked, 24-3. But it was nice to watch the Dolphins win the next 2, including their perfect season in 1972. I’ve watched every Super Bowl since then, 52 in all. I just re-watched _The Four Falls of Buffalo_, the excellent ESPN _30 for 30_ series episode, and it would be great for Buffalo NY to finally win it all. ---

My best childhood friend from the mid 1970s was a Chiefs fan. We were friends growing up in upstate New York but his family had come in from Iowa. I hadn’t spoken with him in many years but we are connected on LinkedIn. When KC won Super Bowl 54 I shot a quick note to him, and it was a nice blast from the past to reconnect a bit. So many fans live their lives without ever seeing a championship. You’re fortunate to be enjoying their dynasty. You can never count out Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. ---

I don’t follow sports nearly as much as I used to but I still keep track for whatever reason. The teams of my youth were the Lakers, Dodgers, Kings and Chargers. I have seen all but one win multiple championships (one in person, the Lakers in 1982). ---

Yes, it’s certainly possible and is a distinct possibility. If the Chargers beat the Texans, and the Bills beat the Broncos, and the Ravens beat the Steelers this weekend, then the Chargers play the Chiefs and the Bills play the Ravens. If the Chargers and Ravens win those divisional games, they play for the championship. ---
