Every book that has “for Dummies” in the title. I might be stupid but I’m not going to pay to be insulted.
I’ll second the nomination for The Celestine Prophecy. It seems like the most humane way to dispose of the thing.
I would add Philippa Gregory’s books to the pile, starting with Wideacre.
I like historical fiction, and I love the Tudor period, but to me, Gregory sours every character she touches. I’m bitter that her Anne Boleyn novel has been made into a movie (The Other Boleyn Girl). Anne’s story is fascinating and I really hate to see a movie about her that has Gregory’s horrid twist in it.
I’ll add My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Piccoult to the pile.
Unrealistic characters, shoddy, cheating ending, sorry, soppy sentimentality. It may put out the fire!
The complete works of Piers Anthony.
Ah, Piers Anthony. The guy who writes books for child molesters.
Glad to see this thread survived the culling - and I’m back in business!
