I love Spicer’s logic in this video (e.g., around the 3:00 mark): He explains that you can’t take a statement that Gorsuch made about a general situation and apply it to a specific case. As near as I can tell, he is trying to say that if we have the logical statement that “All cows eat grass” and we know that “Bessie is a cow”, it is not possible to conclude that “Bessie eats grass”. Maybe he just needs to take a course in elementary logic? ---

Is that the one where Gorsuck tries to act all free and independent (playing to the audience) but without actually saying he would be free and independent (becuase he is just a stinking toady)? Trump won’t have anyone, not even a winking and nodding Supreme Court nominee, publicly express the intention to stand up to him. He just can’t do it. Spicer: “The judge was very clear that he was not commenting on any specific matter, and that he was asked about his general philosophy, So you can’t then take that and equate it back to the specific. He literally went out of his way to say I’m not commenting on a specific instance.” Response from Petkanas: “We take Sean Spicer at his word that Judge Gorsuch did not mean to distance himself from Donald Trump’s attacks on the judicial branch,” … proof that the nominee “will be nothing more than a rubber stamp for this out-of-control Trump presidency.” ---

If I say I hate everyone in the Trump Administration, and you say you are in the Trump Administration, what can we infer I feel about you? I’ll wait while you work that out. What you can’t do is the reverse. If I say I hate YOU, you cannot then infer that means I hate everyone in the Trump administration. It’s true, but you can’t tell that from my statement. ---
