I **WAS** a touchdown. Even you have to admit the officials blew that review big time. Heap said after the game that that was the hardest hit he’s ever taken. He played the rest of the game however-including a fantastic 1 handed catch in the 4th. He’s tough. ---

I said I’d be back Saturday, so lo and behold, here I am. Coming off the crushing defeat at the hands of the Rams, one would think that the Steelers would be demoralized. Well, maybe they are, but it’s nothing a blanket party for the secondary wouldn’t solve. But I digress. This week we get the powerhouses from Seattle. The undefeated at home Seahawks are in for a rude surprise. This week is the week that the Steelers get the shits of getting beat like some third-rate over-40 sandlot team. This week they go into Seattle and give Seattle the spanking that every Seattle team deserves. Pittsburgh 42, Seattle 3. It’ll be the first step to regaining their rightful place atop the AFC North. By the end of the season, the Steelers will be runaway winners of the division with a decent 10-6 record, leaving the pretenders far behind as they fade into obscurity for another year. ---

Watch who you call Tin Men, Mbatu. Desperation can cause unusual feats to be accomplished. Have you been living up to your name and indulging in the magic buttons? If the Steelers lose this one, it’s because they gave up on themselves. They should take a clue from Atlanta and fire the whole starting secondary, I’m sure the second team could do no worse. I got inspired today when I listened to one of my Rush albums. I picked up a cool item from Wal-Mart today: a molded plastic football and tee, hollow, filled with sourdough pretzel bites, and a Steeler logo on the front. I would assume Wally has them in other team colors, in other areas. They also stocked a plastic oversized soda bottle filled with popcorn, with a Steeler logo slapped on where the label would be. Anyone else see them? ---

Doug: Seattle may not be that good – I think the Rams are going to end up winning that division, PROVIDED management has the sense to keep Bolger at QB – but they aren’t going to get beat by 39 points at home. I also don’t think the Steelers are going to turn this season around, not with only 9 games left to play. I thought last year that the Ravens would be tough this year because they had a lot of promising players. They aren’t setting the world on fire with a 4-3 record, but I think they can win enough games to take the AFC Central. And Lewis has the Bengals believing in themselves. I think Cincinnati will contend for the division title. As for firing the secondary, that’s really helped the Falcons, hasn’t it? 😃 And, unfortuneately, I’m cold stone sober as I type this. This week at Sea is the toughest game of the year left for the Steelers. They also got road games at Cle, SF, Balt and NYJ. Sure, any of those COULD be tough, but they are all winnable to. Home games left against the 'natti, Ari, Oak and SD. They should win all of those. Suprisingly Cincy is the toughest of those teams and we allready beat them in the Queen City. So we win 2 of 5 road games and ALL the home games left…damn we still suck. So we need to win 3 of 5 road games and all home games, then we will be 9-7.☹ ---

I might as well do the funeral service now, because if the Steelers make the playoffs now it would be the greatest story since the Resurrection. We can spread things around a little, though. How about those Raiders? Aren’t the Bucs the Super Bowl champs? The Falcons are going to be awesome when Vick returns, aren’t they? At least the Steelers didn’t get my hopes up for the playoffs and have them dashed against the rocks of despair when they fold in said playoffs. GO HIGH DRAFT PICK! Don’t waste it this time. I think it’s safe to say that despite all of my bravado, the Steelers are destined to be doormats this year. Being a true fan, however, all hope is not lost. They could go undefeated the rest of the year. I could shit gold bricks, too. The odds are about the same. So, I think this thread has served its purpose. It has shown me to be a Steelers fan with passion nonpareil. If nobody objects, I think we can put this one to bed. But it’s up to you guys. If you want to resurrect this weekly, it’s your prerogative. I, however, am done here. Good luck to the Chiefs, the Ravens (and you have no idea how much it hurts to say THAT), and the rest of your teams that still have a chance. I will watch the rest of this year wondering about what might have been, and what will be next year, when the Steelers get it together and finally win the big one. Another purpose is to pick which coach gets fired first: Right now I am looking you Marty “No Freeking Clue” Shottenheimer. Way to take a playoff caliber team to a top five draft pick. Since the GM died, the team has increasingly become a Marty team- loaded with the no-talent losers that follow him around. He is the anti-Parcells. Of course, the Redskins and Falcons jobs will soon be available as well. Buffalo will have a help wanted sign out after the last game of the season too. ---
