Oh, OK. Those are the guys who sing songs in between shows on the Disney Channel. They look like theyā€™re wearing old Star Trek uniforms. They donā€™t creep me out, but I do find them somewhat ridiculous. Sheri ---

Letā€™s seeā€¦GAYDAR onā€¦, (hmmm bzzzz crackle)ā€¦oh dear No, no, Iā€™m definitely getting a **negative** reading for Paul McDermott. Heterosexual on all readings, rates zero on gossip, nope, not gay, as far as I can see. Also Iā€™m certain if he was gay, heā€™d let it be known, in an open secret sort of way. Was **Primaflora** thinking of Bob Downe, Molly Meldrum, or John Michael Howson (is **he** gay?)? About the WIGGLES (also all negative on the gaydar, although youā€™d think by the law of averagesā€¦?) I think theyā€™re great. I think itā€™s great for little boys to see some men on TV who relate to them and who arenā€™t violent. The Wiggles fill me with hope, because they seem to represent a gentle confident masculinity that sees nurturing little kids as a fulfilling activity for men. I believe that young fathers of today are much happier in a participatory kind of fatherhood, than my uptight anglo/colonial father and his generation were in their ā€œI donā€™t touch the children, theyā€™re **her** responsibilityā€ approach. And jeez, as **Prima** says, the Wiggles are a thousand million times better than that soppy insincere Barney ā€œI love youā€ rubbish. I think anyone responsible for demeaning the idea of love so much, and for providing encouragement to tiny child actors for such immutabe, monumental perkiness, should be flayed. Homebrew mate, you arenā€™t meant to enjoy them, theyā€™re aimed at little kids. Donā€™t spoil your kidsā€™ fun, will you? Redboss ---

Redboss - thank you for restoring hope (Paul McDermott is not gay). Now, how do I get to meet him? Live in Sydney I guess is the first criteria, huh? As for the Wiggles - I think they are good fun and people here who have criticised them obviously has not seen their effect on little kids - who absolutely _adore_ them. I think it is really refreshing to see an Aussie group doing such a great job of entertaining the littlies, instead of all that american rubbish. ---

Paul McDermott is performing at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, but I think the shows are sold out. Itā€™s actually from seeing his live performances that you come away with the very firm impression heā€™s gay. Heā€™s been doing a LOT of stuff here lately - some of it free and much of it at low-priced venues. ---

**Reprise** Re: Paul McDermott (now just how did he pop up in a thread on the Wiggles) ā€”ooohhh I know, but canā€™t say. Actually, the totally genuine way he used to drool at some of his female guests e.g. Johanna whatshername who used to be married to the guy from Water Rats, I never thought for one second he was gay. Why do you think his live shows give that impression? After my previous post, I realised that perhaps there might be a bit more to it than living in Sydney - like being about 25 years younger, 25 kg lighter and drop-dead gorgeous, but hey, I can dreamā€¦ ---
