I have loved the show for years, but it’s time to quit while they’re ahead. They have jumped the shark. Did you see it last night? The _ **SCREAMAPILLAR** _?
They have had a great run, but the time has come for them to do the Seinfeld shuffle.

My wife and I rather got a kick outta the Screamapillar. Certainly, it’s not bad enough to warrant the dismissal of the entire series.

I thought the Screamapillar was absolutely hilarious! “Without constant reassurance, it will die. It’s sexually attracted to fire…”
But the second half of the show sucked. Particularly the ending. For some reason the “Frame Up” ending just really rubbed me the wrong way.

I loved the Screamapillar. “What’s that horrible sound!?” I think it was a great episode. This season started out horribly, but I have high hopes for next season.

Another vote for the screamapillar—I was rolling on the floor the whole time it was on. I thought the veering off into the murder plot was what did this episode in.

The screamapillar was pretty funny, but other than that the episode was terrible. The Simpsons should’ve ended a couple seasons ago.

I laughed myself silly because the screampillar.
I _hated_ the end! At the end of the show, I actually voiced, “Worst. Episode. Ever.” With a passion.

I loved the screamapillar, and the ending was a little “eh,” but not too bad. I liked how the cops weren’t in on it, either. The show definetly seems to be on an upswing lately.

I simply feel that television series follow an arc of watchability. The Simpsons started out as a quirky, fun primetime cartoon in the tradition of The Flintstones, only darker and more adult. Then it became a source of brilliant social commentary, not to mention a part of America’s family - you _cared_ about them and what happened to them from week to week. Now they’re grasping at straws to keep the show fresh. There was a time when they coThey might as well bring back Roy the boarder. I think Apu’s adulterous liaison was what broke the elephant’s back for me. There was a time when they could take a serious issue like that and make a relevant episode, but that was a travesty. It’s time to shake hands and get outta town while the gettin’s good.

The screamapillar was the first _Simpsons_ element in a long time that had me rolling with laughter. too bad the rest of the episode tanked. Gil’s ineffectual portrayal of a defense attorney just points out how badly Phil (“Lionel Hutz”) Hartman is missed.

I have a serious question for those of you who think that The Simpsons should have “ended”/been canceled several years ago etc.
If you think that it has gotten so bad, then why the hell are you still watching it?
I’m fairly certain that no one is holding a gun to your damn head and forcing you to watch. You could watch whatever WWE wrestling show they have on MTV at that time or the ABC Sunday Night Movie, or here’s a shocking thing, you could actually turn the damn TV set off and I don’t know, read a book? (Not a book about The Simpsons of course) Go for a walk? Do some knitting? Have a semi-intelligent conversation with your significant other/family? Finally write and send off that hate mail letter to President Shrub and Attorney General Asshole? Settle that arguement with your local casino about what exactly constitues an “odd number?”
I could come up with a lot more things that you could do, but I’m going to rewatch last nights Simpson’s episode.

I have a serious question for those of you who feel the burning need to defend a cartoon that has passed its prime. If you think The Simpsons is still a great show, then why don’t you quit your jobs and stay home all day wearing your Simpspns T-shirts and watching your favorite taped episodes over and over and eating Butterfingers and calling your fellow Simpsons fans on the phone and saying “Cowabunga Dude” to each other?
No, no one is “holding a gun to my damn head and forcing me to watch”. It’s just that I used to look forward to watching The Simpsons and now it’s a chore. I keep thinking “Maybe tonight’s episode will be better” and I’ve recently been disappointed. So I posted here wondering if anyone else felt the same way. You may notice that the OP didn’t contain any suggestions that Simpsons fans should be detained by Attorney General Ashcroft for their television-watching habits, nor any demands that all Simpsons re-runs be removed from the airwaves. I just expressed the opinion - as a **fan** - that it was time for them to quit.
But apparently **WSLer** and some others feel that I should have just stopped watching the show and kept my opinions to myself. Okay then, I guess I misunderstood the purpose of this forum.

And to reitterate a point. If you want it to end stop watching, when the ratings drop Fox will pull the show and you will be safe in the knowledge that you helped smarten up those people trying to keep this show on the air.
If it is a chore, make your life easier and turn on 60 minutes or what ever ABC or NBC have on at that time.
