**In the manner of Tris** I looked everywhere in the Pit for wisdom, but I couldn’t find any. All I found was orgy after orgy of ego masturbation and reputation rape. Then I looked everywhere in the Great Debates. No wisdom there, just hot air blowing against cold air. I looked all over MSPIMS, but I couldn’t find any wisdom there either. Too much banality. To much laissez faire. There was no wisdom in General Questions because all the questions were answered. Nothing in Comments on Cecil. Nothing in the Message Board threads either. Then I looked inside myself for wisdom, but I realized that I am the scummiest scumbag on earth, and so I knew that if there had ever been wisdom inside me before, it had passed through me long ago. I thought I had it once, but the cold, cold winds of my intellect had blown it all away. So I gave up looking for wisdom, and sat down on some soft moss under a broad willow tree on a warm day. First came the little bird, a swallow, taking my shoulder as its perch. Then came the fawn, stretching out its tender neck, and trusting me to share my apple. Then came the other critters one by one, bringing me companionship and accepting me as one of their own. Soon, I felt as though I were one with everything around me. I was no better than any of it, but I was no worse. I was just a part of it all. I leaned back and closed my eyes. I felt at peace. I felt loved by everything around me. Wisdom no longer mattered. And suddenly, I felt wise. ---

**After Manhattan** I see. You don’t like the banner ads on the SDMB so you don’t read them. The advertisers and their banner ads pay for this website. They make this whole thing possible. It is only by their kindness and generosity they this board exists. _And you don’t read their banners???_ There’s a word for this sort of behavior – **theft**. That’s right, by participating on this board without reading the banners you are stealing from the _Reader_ and its advertisers. The proposed _Virtual Theivery Act_ makes this clear. In addition, I’ve reviewed the _Reader’s_ latest 10Q filing with the SEC which states that the _Reader_ projects that banner advertising on the board will produce 2.645% of their revenue for fiscal 2000. Ungrateful theiving swine! ---
