Actually, reading back through, I have addressed one of his suggestions (because he certainly made more than one, and it was his later posts I was responding to), but I missed his post regarding “probabilistically” awarding prizes. In answer to this, I would say that this would likely be a more difficult way to run the lottery, incurring extra costs for the provider and providing them with much more variance in the actual amount of prize money awarded. There is nothing wrong with the current system, which avoids these issues.
