Oh, I’m not saying they were incompetent or anything. What I am saying is that if there’s a candidate who comes across as more “cool” or “macho”, they tend to be the winners. Not always, but enough to be something that both sides of the aisle should be aware of.
Realistically, candidates should both be charismatic and competent. But if you have to pick one, charisma is going to win out in an election over competence because elections are fundamentally popularity contests, not the well-reasoned choosing of the most competent candidate that we’d love for them to be.
Falling in love lowers your IQ. The heart is romantic but not very bright. People who meekly fall in line like automatons aren’t very bright, either. I think the solution is for everyone to become more educated and more aware of what is REALLY happening and WHY. In other words, instead of, “don’t believe what you see and hear, believe me”, we need to, “believe what we see and hear, and not believe him”.
