> oh well, ok, not the girls… or is one of those girls Andre3000? they do all like like genuine ladies to me.

The older white lady who “shakes it” towards the end is played by Andre3000. But all the other girls are real.

> The beat is really interesting. It is a steady 4/4, but on every third measure, it goes 6/4 while keeping the same quarter note beat.

This makes it so very satisfying to drum on the steering wheel while singing on the way to work.

I’m lucky cause I only heard Hey Ya and The Way You Move once time each before I bought the cd so I was free to make myself sick of it at my own pace.

I think in 20 years I will still like to see Andre with no shirt on. I think that’s a timeless classic.

Oddly, I’m not tired of this song yet, despite having heard it about twenty billion fucking times since October or whenever.

However, I absolutely _hate_ the rest of the album. Fucking despise every other song. Blech. I listened to it about once through and that’s all I ever need to hear of Outkast again. Just not for me.

I agree, though don’t you find it’s neo-retro style derivitive of early 90’s 60’s retro which was itself derivitive of 70’s 50’s retro wistfulness? i.e. Nirvana’s performance of “In Bloom” on the Ed Sullivan show? _slaps music snob_ just kidding, “Hey Ya” fucking rocks, rocks I say, " I don’t want to meet your momma, just want to make u cumma…" Gold.

**bookbuster** , thanks for the link. I hadn’t seen the video for Hey ya and hadn’t even heard The Way You Move. Just wow. Great videos and incredibly catchy songs. I need to buy this album.

Okay, I am SERIOUSLY out of it, culturally. I listen to NPR on the radio, and I don’t have cable, so I had never heard Hey Ya! until I read a review of Outkast’s album in the Chicago Reader. I dled it and…I LOVE it. I have to go out and buy the CD. (I’ve dled some other Outkast songs too.) I have gotten so much enjoyment out of my snitched music, I feel guilty and want Outkast to have my money. I guess it’s overplayed somewhere, but not in my circle. Well, I’ve listened to it about eight hundred times on my computer, it’s on hiatus at the moment. Lovelovelove.

**Jurph** is right. “Hey Ya” really sucks.

That said, one good thing did at least come of “Hey Ya”. I went to see the band Pennywise play a show a couple of weeks ago, and they played a cover of “Hey Ya”.

Let me tell you, if you haven’t seen a punk band cover “Hey Ya”, with choral accompaniment by a bunch of guys with mohaws and various other interesting hairstyles, you haven’t seen it the way it was meant to be seen.

Count me as a geezer too, I thought “album” was what you called it. What are they called now? Albushizzles?

I’m 20 and I’ve called them albums all my life.

From now on, they will be known only as albushizzles, however.

wouldnt it be ‘albizzles’ or ‘LPizzles’?

“Album” isn’t an old word. An “album” is any recording media with a large number of songs. You can have the same “album” on CD, tape, LP, 8-track, or in a dorectory on your hard drive, or saved in your mp3 player.

“LP,” now that’s a fogie term.

If you’re confused, just shake it. Shake it. Shake it like a Polaroid picture.

After I heard “Hey Ya” on the radio one day and found out it was Outkast (I enjoyed Stankonia immensely) I went right out and bought the albushizzle.

It’s the rare albushizzle that you can listen to 20 times and the 21st time you put it on it still surprises you and makes you say “I hadn’t heard that before” and “Man, I hardly even remember this song”. I don’t mean that in the sense that the songs are forgettable but rather that there’s just such an overload of good stuff and different stuff on that album that you can’t process it all.

I’m real glad to see a lot of love for this albushizzle here, and I feel bad for the folks that can’t get by the “pop” label or overplayed nature of “Hey Ya”, because when I hear it open, I just grin and can’t turn it off.

My only complaint with the L.Pizzle are the stupid skits.

Fatman Scoop also offically sucks, i cant believe hes so popular given the fact he literally just shouts into the microphone, i think its a perfect representation of the power of media / the stupidity and fickleness of youth, im only 18, but i hate modern music(charts etc) my favourite band is led zep, i cant understand why people like this, infact i dont think they do, i think they think they have to because everyone else thinks they have to, no-one has the guts to say what they mean.
