Let me ditto your ditto. The first game managed to be more Star Wars than the last three-and-a-half actual Star Wars movies. The creators seemed to know what actually made Star Wars cool: a big universe with neat places to visit, strong characters, good dialogue, an _eevil_ baddie, space battles, lightsabre duels, a great plot-twist - and enough spin on the old familiar settings and situations to make them fresh again without being “ironic”. It managed to capture all the original _fun_ of Star Wars, with none of the recent turgidity: hell, they could do much worse than actually write a screenplay based on that game.

Yeah, I’m going to go on record as saying the news article totally screwed up.

We’re going to cover 20 years of Luke’s life? Hmm…how old was Luke supposed to be in the first movie? 18? 20?

Luke Skywalker: The Toddler Years.

I don’t see it.

Twenty years would cover the events between Episode 3 and Episode 4. That would be the time Luke was on Tattooine.

I’m betting they fucked up in their article.

I loved the Clone Wars cartoons, and would pwersonally prefer a new cartoon series to a live action one. I would love to see young Leia - by Episode IV she’s clearly been a rebel leader for a while and participated in some action. I would also love to see Vader go from boo-hooing over Padme to Evil Dark Lord. I would love to see episodes with no major characters that focus on the rise of the Evil Empire and the Rebellion.

But young Luke? That would be boring as hell.

Yeah…of all the characters around the Episode 4 period, Luke is the ONLY one who doesn’t have anything going on!

Still say it’s a newspaper fuckup.

In this week’s exciting episode, Luke sulks after his Uncle Owen tells him he can’t go into Tashi Station to pick up some new power converters until his chores are finished. “You just don’t _care_!”, whines Luke, but domestic harmony is restored after kindly Aunt Beru intervenes.

Stay tuned for next week’s thrills, as Luke’s landspeeder won’t start and he finds out that the jumper leads a Jawa sold him are both defective and out of warranty. “It’s not _fair_!”, fumes Luke.

Here is the obligatory link to the [Penny Arcade cartoon](http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2005/04/27).

In my own opinion, I think there is definite potential for greatness here. Imagine something like ‘24’ set in the Star Wars universe. If, however, they focus this on the childhood of Luke, which Luke himself describes as really boring (“I’m never going to get off this rock!”), I think it’s going to be a dud.

I’m with Merijeek - it covers the period of those twenty years (they’re putting it into context for the average non-Star Wars fan) but will not actually be about Luke. It’ll be about new characters, with maybe some cameo appearances of familiar “faces” like Jabba the Hutt or Boba Fett or whatever.

The animated TV series is different again, and will be more about the Jedi Purge, i.e. the Empire eliminating the rest of the Jedi Knights still scattered about the Galaxy.

Or so I have managed to glean from the tidbits thus far revealed.

> I heard it was going to be animated, and done by the same people who did the _Clone Wars_ cartoon series. If so, we’re in for a treat-that was awesome.

At Celebration III they said they were working on two different series. One is an animated series in the vein of _Clone Wars_ cartoon series, which I believe covers the period immediately following Episode III. Then in 2008 they are planning to come out with the live-action TV series described in the article (except the Luke part does indeed seem to be an error). This, I presume, follows the action in the cartoon series and takes us through to (roughly) the beginning of Episode IV.

Interesting that they are already planning on 100 episodes. This, if you didn’t know, is the magic number for TV series. Once they reach 100 they can go into syndication, which is where the real money is. But what if the series tanks? Does Lucas have enough power to keep a show that nobody watches on the air for 4-5 seasons?

I’d like to see a **Cops** -style show, called either **Troopers** or **Jedi** , where one could see the guys in their typical “day job” experiences…

Or a “To Sir With Love” style take-off on a Jedi and his Padawan class.

What the Hell, let’s do Episodes VII-IX as series … one whole series for each Episode. Then, done, we can be, with this, yesssssssssssss.

Actually, having the show focus on young Leia might be quite interesting.
Who decided 100 is the magic number for syndication?

How could you not? It’s a great scene. Where he’s got the captain held up off the ground by the neck. “If this is a tranport ship, where is the ambassador?” Eventually, gets angry, snaps his neck and throws him against the wall “Commander, tear this ship apart until you’ve found those plans, and bring me the passengers, I want them alive!”

You may be confused because Captain Antilles from the beginning is not the same person as Wedge Antilles from the end.
