Papa T’s job involves in large part dealing with an “upgrade” to the software his company created and developed 12+ years ago. Of course, this software being used by the gummint, they they proceeded to award the “upgrade” contract to a competitor. Which has been totally [de]making his life a living hell[/del]driving him crazy with problems that he’s expected to resolve, even though the people who have to do the resolution don’t even work for his company. He’s giving serious thought to going back to feeding off the gummint trough; that way he’d be the one telling the contractors, “Fix it, I don’t care if it’s not your problem,” instead of being the poor schmuck of a contractor. 😃 I’ve spent the last 48 hours feeling somewhere between crummy and totally punk. I should just take a nap, I guess. Just got the e-mail. We are open for bidness tomorrow unless we feel we “must” stay home. :rolleyes: No chance of a power outage in this building either since it’s on the same grid as a fire station. Bernie is going to be sold to the next traveling carnival that passes through here. When I got home, I took her out for her afternoon constitutional. I’d left the big garage door open. She saw a cat in “her” front yard. Before I could get to her leash, she took off. For an old dog, she sure can run if she wants to. The cat went up a tree in the front, so Bernie stopped. I got up to her, but almost simultaneously, the cat came down the tree, and Bernie took off after her again, down the hill and across the street, where the cat scaled yet another tree. I went running across the street, yelling at the evil mutt with her ignoring me. So I had to go among the trees to get her, and I tripped over a branch and fell on my hands and knees. Fortunately, the ground was well cushioned with leaves and pine needles, and my glasses stayed put, so there’s that. I cussed, brushed myself off, and managed to grab her by the collar. And, of course, as we walked back, I managed to get all scratched up by a thorny vine. Stupid dog. So she’s on _The List_ and she didn’t get her cookie. And since I have Friday off, my work week is now half over. Yay!! ---

I haven’t done much at all today. I had to go into work, the new manager had a register that wasn’t working. It had an unplugged cable. I need to wash the sheets that Hellcat puked on last night. **MamaT** , Issac and Rusty show the true meaning of “work like a dog”. **Puggy** , did you get the “for the good of the community” speech? I had a boss who did that when we were open during heavy snows or just before a hurricane hit. :rolleyes: **FCM** , Bernie might fit in with mine. I tell people that I am the director of the Raleigh Veterinary Institute for the Criminally Insane. **Meeks** , no DSL or E-mail for several days? :eek: I hope you survive Dope withdrawal. ---

Howdy Y’all! I’m hoooooome! Well, that was a big ol’ stoopid waste of time. Yesterday at 11:30 A.M. we were told that as of 2:00 P.M. all Miami-Dade county employees were to leave their offices. Yep, I was at a county place to do work. So, I call TPTB to tell 'em and to make travel arrangements. My cohort was good cause she could get a flight out at three o’clock. Me? 6:45 P.M. at the earliest (to Tallahassee) but it was a booked full flight! So, I take off outta Miami in a rental car. I drove up the Turnpike (I waved at ya **Puggy** ) and made it up to Ocala, where I stopped and spent the night. I messed around this morning and slept in a bit, then went and had my free hot made to order breakfast (ham and cheese omelette, grits and an English muffin, YUM!) and drove on to Tallahassee. I got home about threeish this afternoon. The good news is I still get all expenses paid and still get paid for working for the past two days even though all I did pretty much was drive through Flahrdy. Oh and I waited over an hour at a service plaza yesterday afternoon for gas! Ok, time to feed. BBL ---

How can you be hungry after that big breakfast? Omelette, grits and an English muffin? And you probably had honey on the grits and jelly on the muffin. Think of the carbs, man! 😃 Unrelated to anything - just a note to my 150,000 users: Yes, I do have the ability to rummage through your files on the server. Good heavens, there’s a lot of pictures from department trips to Hawaii and Disney filling up the drives! I wasn’t actually rummaging, but some of the file names caught my eye as they flitted across the screen as I was moving a user from one server to another. ---

Another AC story! I know you were waiting with bated breath for the next one. Briefly, our receptionists (we have 2, one at the front desk and one in the back who actually answers the phones) can check availability and book conference rooms when the person who usually does that is out, but all AAs are able look in the system and check availability anytime. Our conference room person is out today, so AC calls reception to find out if a room is available “because she’s in the middle of a couple of things.” Receptionist, who is tired of doing AC’s work for her, snaps back with, “Don’t you have access to the system yet?” (AC’s been here since November, in case you’ve forgotten.) AC says, “I forgot my password.” Password for that application: Last 4 digits of your SSN. ---
