Yes, folks, it’s that time of year again. Purim is this coming Sunday and my family (as has become an annual tradition, it seems) made hamantaschen. Oh, and hamantaschen(s?) are little three-sided pastries with fruit in the middle. They’re supposed to look like Haman’s three-pointed hat. Haman was a bad Biblical dude who wanted to kill a bunch of Jews. Long story short, he failed and we celebrate his failure (and hanging) every year at Purim. ---

Awww! Happy Purim. Those kids are durned cute, I must say. hey, Zev, do you have a recipe? It’s been a few years since I hamantaschened but I’m getting the urge. My mom’s recipe was always a bit too crumbly. PS - the name apparently means “Haman’ Pockets” in German, but I’m also told that taschen is a common term for any sort of folded pastry (like a dumpling). ---

You know, I saw Hamantaschen in the store the other day and I thought of you. Of course, store-bought Hamantaschen simply can’t compare, I’m sure. But the association for me was a pleasant one. Two nice things make me think of Zev Steinhardt, in fact: Hamantaschen and spring training. It’s a good legacy, my friend. ;j I just realized you won’t see this until Monday. I hope Purim was raucus and festive, and the Hamantaschen was yummy.
