I guess a better question is how many people who registered from day 1 are still posting. That might give you an indication as to the future posting trends. ---

Maybe in ten years time it is found that, due to the enormous influx of new members, conventional power sources are not sufficient to operate the SDMB anymore. So a new source is found: the human body. The human body generates more bio-electricity than a 120-volt battery and over 25,000 BTU’s of body heat. There will be fields, endless fields where human beings are kept and attached straight to the server. The resultant increase in power will lead to the mods operating on an unsurpassed level of efficiency, resulting in a perfect message board, where no-one is flamed, everyone’s ignorance is combated. That will be a disaster. No one will accept the board. Entire crops will be lost. So the administration will re-introduce imperfection, in the form of trolls and One-Trick Ponies, to keep our primitive cerebrums from trying to log off. Which is why the SDMB will be redesigned to model this very moment at which we currently stand, the peak of our civilization. So, in ten years time it will look exactly as it does now. (Damn, I’m good. I should make this into a movie) ---

Ignorance will be overcome sometime in 2011. The SDMB will have lost its _raison d’etre,_ and there will be talk of shutting it down. At the last minute, it will be rescued, and the motto will be changed to “Fighting Inelegance Since 2011”. ---
