So many reasons. Among them: [ul] [li]Many notes, warnings and suspensions strike me as much too harsh. I often think to myself, “really? THAT was over the top?” I don’t think this is necessarily indicative of moderation team flaws, I think it’s most likely a flaw in me. I’m demonstrably too dense to recognize jerkish behavior that is evident to others. [/li] [li]I am an intellectual lightweight who can’t be bothered to follow all the arguments people make with the care they deserve. I … skim.[/li] [li]Moderators should, I believe, be held to a higher standard than I’m willing to commit to. I’m personally more comfortable knowing I could be a civilly disobedient Thoreau-type poster willing to accept punishment for my posting behavior if I had to, ratherthan a beat cop who has to set a good example and police the posts of others.[/ul] [/li] There are many more reasons, but those are enough. ---

I’m a straight white USian male. I don’t seem to be what they’re looking for. Outside of that I’d like to give it a try. I spend way to much time on this board so it probably wouldn’t change how much time I spent here and I think I could follow in Bone or Miller’s footsteps. ---

I’m not good with picking up on cues, and comments I see as harmless or inane are sometimes veiled nastiness, that becomes clear when a mod issues a warning. That alone convinces me I’d be a lousy mod. Plus I come here for mindless escapism. If it became a job, I wouldn’t want to come any more. ---

I would struggle with keeping track of people. I have been here for a decade and a half and only recognize about 20 names. The rest of you all are a big nameless, faceless “They.” Avatars helped, but so many people still don’t use them. _Shrug_ It always shocks me when people mention the gender, location, and other information on posters. How do you people keep track of all that stuff? Maybe a I need a giant spreadsheet. ---

Is it possible to block/ignore a mod? Ignoring mods would be an odd feature. Then you wouldn’t see Mod Notes and Warnings. I think that is not even an option for vBulletin. ---
