I don’t know if it’s the economy or the heat or what but I see so many people on the road, at work, in stores, wherever just behaving really badly. I don’t get it but there’s a disturbing number that just need to chill.

Sorry, I was exhausted last night and didn’t turn on the computer. The vet has no explanation as yet as to _why_ his temperature was so high–his lungs are clear, no abcesses or infections, etc. However, we brought him home and dutifully followed instructions. Wrapping a feverish, confused cat who doesn’t like to be held in the first place in a cold, wet towel and making him stay there for several minutes is an adventure. I only got one bad scratch, which shows how terrible he must have felt.
Woke up a couple times in the night to check on him (luckily, he didn’t get off my bed, so I didn’t even have to get up). This morning the fever seems to have broken–his ears and paws are a normal temperature, and he even got off the bed and down the stairs by himself. He’s still a little slow, and I haven’t seen him eat or drink (though the dog partook of the kitty buffet I brought upstairs for him), but I think he’s going to be back to himself in a day or two. He’s starting to get the strength to be pissed about his medicine. 🙂
Thanks for all the concern, everybody! I will admit I freaked out a little, but I’m much calmer now. 😉

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated (even caffienatin’ as I post **Who?** ) and at irk. ‘Tis a hyooooooooomid 76 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 92 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse this evenin’. We did have a tboomer last night around nine o’clock. Went sleepy bye to the sound of thunder and rain. AHHHHHHHH!
OYKW called me at six this mornin’ to come meet him for brekkie at Pearly’s, so I purtified and went to meet him. Had a good sausage bizkit with cheeze grits.

**lieu** I shall attempt to restrain myself but I fear I may become one of those behavin’ really badly people when I go to the Ford dealership to yet again attempt to get the dang rebate I’m due for the brake job twuck had last month. It’s gettin’ personal.
Ok, I reckon I should get busy with irkstuff. Gotta go over to the east forty for a little while this mornin’. Gettin’ another participant set up with a for real job. YAY!

My 20th will probably be next year … I don’t know how I feel about that. Not that I can’t believe it’s been twenty years–I can totally believe that. I just guess I thought I would have done more with my life by now. Meh. I skipped the 10th because I didn’t think I cared, but I might go to this one. I still see my best friend from high school on at least a weekly basis, but I think his wife and I can convince him that we need to go to this and behave terribly. 🙂

I must post about a new sammich creation, **The Bobbio Reuben**. This is my creation, so if you’re a Reuben purist, tough noogies.
Per sammich:
2 slices pumpernickel
2 slices deli Swiss cheese
enough homemade applewood smoked pastrami to cover bread
3 slices peppered bacon
Thousand Island salad dressing to taste
sauerkraut to taste
Assemble bread, cheese, pastrami, and bacon into standard sammich stack, nuke until cheese is melty, then add kraut and dressing. Nom nom nom will ensue.

His personality is coming back, too. Last night after the second go-round with the wet towel, I put the towel on the floor so he could cool himself off if he wanted. He chose to lay [right next to it](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a14/Draeleigh/photo_zpsa645f930.jpg). Because he’s an asshole. The vet told me that he was a perfect gentleman and it only took one person to do his x-rays. I said “That’s how I know he’s sick. If he felt good, it would have taken four people and some kevlar.”

Yesterday, Allie decided that about 2:30am was a GREAT time to start pestering her human for breakfast. Needless to say, she struck out. 😃

Since he’s trying to recover from major insomnia problems in the last week or so, I’m not terribly optimistic, but maybe a down day will be for the best in the long run anyway. I might drop him an e-mail asking him to load and run the dishwasher. 😃

Why does a hospital need an hour and a half to take blood pressure, ask some questions about previous surgeries and draw a couple tubes of blood?
My pre-op appointment is done, at least. They wanted to make me look like I’d escaped from the loony bin with a big red wristband for the next week and a half. They want and/or need to do a type and screen in case I need blood during surgery, and to ensure that I get the right blood, I’d have to go around with said big wristband for the next ten days. They said they’d be able to draw the blood for this when I get there next week and avoid tahe wristband, so that’s a no-brainer.
As my cube neighbor might say, that’s slap ate up. At least I think “slap ate up” means “bad.”

I can’t even figure out what that’s supposed to mean. I might have to do some kind of google for the origin of this phrase, because I’m seriously fascinated by how dumbfounded I am.
I just talked to Roomie’s visiting boyfriend, who is sitting in my house watching Indiana Jones all day while we’re at work. Sick Kitty is exhibiting normal temperatures, and he had to chase the little bastard all over the house to find this out, which must mean he’s feeling quite a bit better. 🙂

Morning, all -
and Happy Toosday.
I might be one of those grumpy folks **lieu** was talking about - for some reason, I’ve been real snappy and on edge lately, though I’m not sure just why. Some of it is that my tolerance for stoopidity has dropped to near zero recently - especially at irk - where, by unfortunate coincidence, the rate of stoopid has skyrocketed.
My last irk day (back tomorrow, _le sigh_) I swear I could have inflicted actual harm on a cow-irker that sought to “help” with “advice”, and during an especially trying day, to boot. Kind of like junior moderating, only far more annoying, as the individual mentioned is about twenty years behind my experience level. The person probably meant well, but sometimes you just need to read a person’s body language or temperament and decide whether opening your pie hole is worth it.

Something like that. Anyway, I unleashed a torrent of molten invective, then regretted it, because not only do I know better, but also really dislike it when I allow others get under my skin like that.

On the positive side of things, I’m off next week for about five days, and we’re taking the kids out to their grandparents in central NY. Should be a fun trip and dang, I sure need the break.

This is going to be a baaaaaaaaad day. My email inbox is just completely filled up with all kinds of crap from my chief. My days are being filled with meetings which leaves me no time to do any actual work. Overtime and/or comp time are out. We can’t have any of that. All of my suspenses are short, and all of the stuff EVERYONE wants is huge. I’ve got four business case analyses in the hopper, and several other data calls on top of those.
I was also sent notification of a “training opportunity”. As funds are short, and I’m not a healthcare provider who requires this to maintain credentials, it’s highly unlikely that they will fund it. The cost is $400.00 and if they think I’m paying that, and losing 20% of my pay, they’re fucking high. On top of that, the one local venue is only offering that at the time of my daughter’s wedding. Not going, they can suck it.
The final straw was an email from my chief saying she wants a “plan” for when I’m using the comp time I earned during business planning. I’ve got a fucking year to use it! I’m not going to let it turn into overtime and I’ve already used about 25 hours of it. Jeebus!
I wish these fuckers would just leave me the fuck alone!!!

**gotti** glad all the preop stuff is done, or at least sounds like it’s done. I agree the big red wristband is not a fashion statement I’d want to make either. “Slap ate up” is a good ol’ southern phrase for sump’n that is incredibly stoopid, inane, idiotic and in general effed up. It’s also a good way to describe bein’ real sick. As in, “Ah’m jist slap ate up with this here cold.”

Today is pizza day and laundry day and I don’t feel like either.
Maybe I’ll order pizza for Sah-son and get Chinese for me.
I got all the announcements done and then I realized I forgot to put the seals on the inner envelopes. :smack:
My mother started dating a year after my father died and I was amazed at how many people got upset by it. Her family was worse about it than his. When my mother finally settled on one guy and he started sleeping over my sister was ready to have a cow.
She got all huffy and said _She’s sleeping with him in the same bed where she slept with dad_. I said _yeah, but they flipped the mattress over so that makes it okay_.
I guess this is why my sister thinks I’m disgusting and I think she is an unbearable prig who needs the pull the pole out of her ass.
