I thought the AOL commercial where Mike went flying was perfect. Not because it was particularly new or cutting edge, but Paul Sr hitting Paulie’s arm was perfect. Per-Fect. My favorite so far. ---

Way to go, Pepsi The most annoying thing Pepsi’s done this Bowl, in my opinion, is replace the original Sierra Mist announcer with a guy who sounds like Jon Lovitz. “One shockingly refreshing lemon-lime” doesn’t sound as good out of a high-pitched voice. Still waiting for Homer (which I’ve read about) and Jimi (which I’ve seen). ---

Well, I know it wasn’t _supposed_ to be funny, but it was. The Ciatra or Ciatrus (whatever the ED pill is) saying, and I have to paraphrase, because I was laughing too hard, how an erection lasting for more than four hours required medical attention. That is the new best disclaimer ever, taking the spot from the previous champ Olestra, which might cause anal leakage. ---

And is it just me, or are most of the commercials not good this year? CBS self-promotion. Buy Gilette razors. CBS self-promotion. Muhammad Ali talking to Linux. CBS self-promotion. Mike Ditka talks about Levitra. CBS self-promotion. The CBS self promotions I can get, but only a few companies (including perennial winner Anhauser-Busch) are getting the big ones and the good ones. The biggest waste of two million bucks since the E\*Trade monkey. ---

mobo85, the commercials are definitely lacking this year. I don’t know what [Monster.com](http://Monster.com) is doing. In the past they have had some really good commercials (“When I grow up I want to be in middle management.”) and now this year, this year … I just don’t get it. There have been too many CBS promos. I’m guessing that they weren’t able to sell all the ad time (maybe they should have used the [MoveOn.org](http://MoveOn.org) spot after all). A _NY Times_ article on 1/15 said that only 85% of the commercial time had been sold. Most of the remaining time was in the fourth quarter and would be discounted from the $2.3 per 30 seconds. I’m not expecting anything great for the rest of the game. One question: Where the hell is “Leon”? The Super Bowl is the perfect time for a Leon commercial, come on Budweiser. ---

Are the guys from American Chopper so well known that AOL thought it was worth spending $4 - $6 million on the commercial time? I watch the show sometimes, so thought the ads were kinda amusing, but I doubt the average Super Bowl watcher has any idea who these guys are… ---

Yes, **Lando Griffin**. I saw it last night on a “Best Super Bowl Commercial” special that also previewed some new ones. A funny hypothetical situation, almost _Forrest Gump_-like A young boy walks down the street. He spots a Coke machine. Then, a Pepsi. Decisions, decisions. He picks the Pepsi. Good choice! A caption tells us this is a young James Hendrix. The Pepsi machine is near a store that sells guitars. The Coke machine? Outside an accordion store. The American Legacy Foundation (truth™) may have some commercials that aren’t liked, but you gotta love their parody of Philip Morris’ “there is no such thing as a safe cigarette” ad. Shards O’ Glass pop- use care. ---
