My stomach hurts, and it has been hurting since yesterday. It seems to get better when I put something in it, nothing major, a little cream of _whatever_ soup, a few crackers, but it is really hurting. I woke up last night with the pain, ended up bolting (as fast as a cripped up woman can bolt) to the bathroom certain that I was going to be ill, only to have that drooly stuff, nothing more, but now that I think about it that seems to be happening about once or twice a week. I am attributing it to extreme stress, for the moment anyway. If I am not feeling better by the morning I am calling my doc. There has been all this rotten drama since mom passed away, which has included my mother’s husband, shit, I guess kicking me out of the family basically covers it, although it has been far more complicated - and painful - than simply that. This week he has taken everyone else - including non-family members - to Hawaii to scatter mom’s ashes. If that wasn’t enough, my #2 daughter called me two weeks (approximately) ago to tell me that she and her boyfriend are getting married next month, but that it’s going to be very small and I shouldn’t worry about attending. (His parents will be there, and this is her first (hopefully only) marriage. Okay, I sucked that up, wished them both congratulations, and we talked about what she is wearing etc. Today I went to send her a message on fb, and, once again, she has deleted and blocked me. _sigh_ She got mad at me (I still don’t know why) in 2010 and I called her when mom was in the hospital for the last time because it was stupid to let whatever her issue was keep her from saying goodbye to her grandma for the last time. One step forward, three steps back. I have been watching my aunt’s dogs while she has been in Hawaii, she will be home to get them tomorrow, and then I may just crawl back under my rock. I am not having a good day . . . which is too bad, because the weather has been glorious, and I have not felt well enough to stick my nose out of the house. Fingers crossed that tomorrow will be a better day. I feel so ungrateful for whining, people across the country - world - have it so much worse than I. Probably I need a hug. **{{{{{kai}}}}}** - adding my vote that you contact your dr without delay. It’s so weird to me to wake and find it’s warmer than it was at bedtime. Yesterday, it never got above 50°, but at the moment, it’s 59°! And raining, of course - it’s going to rain all day and night and into tomorrow morning. I had to go out with Higgs last night - she doesn’t like the rain and she was ready to come right back in - and the yard was all squishy. When this slop finally stops, I’ll need to get right out there and try to even out the ruts left by the shed-moving truck. I want to stomp down the ridges and fill in the holes - luckily, we’ve got a couple of piles of dirt for fill. Supposedly, tomorrow afternoon will be the end of it, and it’s going to warm up, so with my sweetie’s help, we should be able to fix things up pretty fast. Maybe I can even throw down some grass seed! Speaking of my sweetie, he’s on his way. He called around 7 - kinda, sorta waking me up - to say he was at US301 and I10. Assuming the traffic to and around Jacksonville wasn’t too stupid, he should be getting to Jawja any time now, so he’s on his way. I’m worried about the weather along I95 - all that nasty crap that was in MS and AL yesterday has been moving east. I won’t relax till he’s home. And with him enroute, I need to do a major bit of tidying. There’s miscellany on the kitchen counter and the coffee table, plus dog toys strewn about. I’ll run the vacuum, but dunno if I’ll dust. I promised I’d make him a batch of ginger snaps - I should probably find a recipe for that, right? Plus I need to go to the Harley dealership and pick up some fender guards that he’d ordered. I’ll try to venture out between storms. On top of it all, it’s payday!! My retirement money shows up in my account on the last working day of the month. Now that I don’t have any other income, our checking balance always looks bleak, and we’ve had to start supplementing from savings. Yeah, that’s always been the plan and we’ve worked out a budget accordingly, but until right now, it hasn’t been an issue - there’s always been some extra coming in, so we never got entirely into retirement mode, financially. I have to work hard not to panic about that - I have a tendency to “what-if” myself - what if we need an expensive car repair (not very likely) - what if one of us needs surgery (also unlikely) - what if the house explodes (OK, I’m overreaching now) - what if we win the lottery (yeah, that’s gonna happen.) My logical brain knows we’ve planned well and we just need to stick to the plan. My panic brain is picking out the best underpass for our refrigerator box. Don’t try to understand it. But if you’re working, make sure you save a whole bunch of money. If you have a couple of million tucked away, you should be OK for a few years. 😉 OK, enough of my neurosis - Happy Wednesday! Can we turn off the rain now? ---

Happy Hump Day! We have RAIN Lots and lots of rain, raining so hard it wakes you up beating against the windows. Today would have been a good day for the home inspection, if anything is going to leak today is a good day for finding it. That said, not having to drive all the way out there in this mess is a good thing. I have two lunch invitations today. Maybe the rain will slow down by then. I got my bug detector in the mail yesterday, now I have to figure out how to work it. The directions are in Chinese with a very bad English translation. I have to put my new sticker on the truck today, I may have to park under an overpass to do it. {{{ **Wiki** }}} ---

Now the weather PTB say the ickiness will stick around through tomorrow. GRRRRR!!! I’m guessin’ we’ll start to get flash flood warnin’s any time now. **MOOOOOOM** all this is either there are headed towards where FCD is drivin’. My guess is there if’n **doggio** is gettin’ it as well. In other news, I have a new phone system for irk. YAY!!! The old one was on it’s last laigs, poor thing. The base is all up and goin’ (it’s corded) and the cordless extensions are chargin’ up. So far it rings and I get calls so there’s that. It also has a for real ring instead of the baby turkey gobble the old system had. Really, it sounded like baby turkeys gobblin’. ---

Back from erranding. I’ve got windows open because, despite the rain, it’s warmer outside than in the house! If it starts pouring and blowing, I’ll have to close some windows, but there’s a roof over the front porch, so the living room and family room windows can stay open. We shall see. \*\*FCD \*\*called around 9:30 - he’d just hit the SC border. By my reckoning, he should hit NC in an hour or so. From the looks of the weather radar, he may be just ahead of the worst of it. I just hope he’s not surrounded by idiots who don’t know how to drive in the rain. And I hope he calls soon… Meanwhile, I need some lunch, then I need to make the ginger snaps. And vacuum. And gather the yarn. Can I get that all done in 6 hours??? We shall see.
