Some idiots came out a few months ago in [this tread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=281621) and tried to argue **for** the telemarketers. I still see some of them around here. Some repented their past. Others held their ground and continued inviting abuse.
I know that this may get some mod comments about bumping. It makes me wish that there was a seperate section for classic threads. This would be the flagship.

I once knew a telemarketer. As mentioned by others previously, he was a new HS grad and he hated it. Think about it. If you’re working for people who are willing to run a telemarketing business, treating people fairly is not going to be one of their strong points.
He quit and got a job transporting bodies. On call 24/7. He considered it a big step up.
