In this [CNN Story](http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/04/09/sprj.irq.journalists/index.html), we learn that several television journalists and technicians have died during bombing in the war in Baghdad.

This is a Forum for the arts and entertainment business. I surely do not wish to co-opt it into a political forum. But I feel strongly about the deaths of these technicians, and wish to memorialize them.

War reportage is a tricky thing, as we all are learning. I respect the efforts that these people were making, and wish that their jobs had succeeded unmarred by a violent end. Operating broadcast equipment is hard work, draining and serious. They were not out in the field, but were inside of buildings- one’s mind goes for safety and I would have felt safer inside than outside, in that city at this time. They were clearly not safe enough.

My industry mourns them, and I mourn them.
