Yes, it appears to be a GI Joe figure and Fark reported that [AP Released](http://apnews.myway.com/image/20050201/IRAQ_SOLDIER.sff_LON128_20050201125054.html?date=20050201&docid=D87VU1582) a photo of the [“captured American”](http://www.monkeydepot.com/Merchant/bd0450.JPG). First link “hostage” second link “doll in package”. Looks to be like some kind of hoax. It’s not clear which news outlets actually fell for it (or if AP really did release the photo.) ---

Well, it looks like AIM news carried the original false, story (and now has a retraction), so did MSNBC, and CNN had an “unconfirmed report” (Unconfirmed? No shit! _Look_ at the doll!!!) ---

It looks like they used the gun from the package and built a banner to scale. Well, at least the terrorists are busy building models and playing with dolls and not arming more [disabled children](http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/EdmontonSun/News/2005/02/01/916652-sun.html) as suicide bombers. ---
