One of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time. The show just gets better and better. I think a fair few of our American friends won’t find this purile childish thing funny but Top Gear is becoming one of the crown jewels in the BBC schedule IMO. The show was about a lot more than just this BTW but this was the highlight. ---

Great show, the best and worst of Top Gear at the same time. No-one delivers appallingly lazy xenophobic stereotypes with quite the panache of Jeremy Clarkson. Contrived set-ups passed off as perilous escapes from near death. It was totally stupid and wonderfully entertaining. I apologise in advance to any Americans from the South who haven’t seen it yet, but if you approach it with a very broad mind you still might enjoy it. ---

And just how contrived and exaggerated was it? Just watch the last part when they’re carping about not being able to see during a rainstorm, all while pointing the camera at the windshield…through which all the outside traffic was clearly visible. Pussies. ---

I did laugh out loud quite a bit though. **Ogre** welcome to the world of Jeremy Clarkson 🙂 It’s all about entertainment with Top Gear and I have to say the show last night was one of the best. Normally they just do just do car reviews and nearly die in Jet cars and take the piss out of everyone while doing it. ---

You’ve got to love his verdict on the clapped-out $1,000 Chevy Camaro that he was driving - “the engine is about as powerful as Belgium, and the supsension’s softer than the journalism in an in-flight magazine.” I know I should hate Clarkson, but I just can’t. ---

Yeah, OK, I watched it again, and I got chuckle out of it. You’ll have to pardon my first reaction…I’m so sick of the anti-Southern bigotry thing I can’t stand it. And seriously, would you expect me to be able to drive through the heart of Manchester United country with “Manchester United Sucks Weasel Testicles” emblazoned on my car and escape without any flak? I must say that I am highly dubious of the stone-throwing, however. Also, I’m familiar with “Top Gear,” folks. We get it here. ---

They created the situation and edited it to look the worst and funniest they could added music etc. but IMO they didn’t fake the people or the stones/reactions etc. I could be wrong though. ---

No. You’d be lucky to drive round the rougher parts of Manchester without having stuff thrown at you regardless of what might be written on the side of your car. If they ever do an American Top Gear they should do a stunt in which they drive tiny Euro hatchbacks across Lancashire while mercilessly take the piss out of our grim industrial cities, bad teeth, and faint air of homosexuality. That would capture the Top Gear spirit. ---

I’d actually like TG to do a Irish thing as we have terrible roads and a large amount of idiots as well. Our motorway system or lack of it would make Clarkson have a stroke. ---

I don’t hate Clarkson. I love the Top Gear series. My issue with him is that he is extremely prejudice. He hates everything American, especially cars.
