Haven’t seen a thread on this (foregive me if there is already one) So, the cops found out that someone - more likely, several someones - had built a mysterious tunnel on some wasteland near York University. This was no small undertaking - there was a generator for an electric light system, and it was shored up with wooden supports. Looks to have been dug by hand. So far, no clue as to what it was for. According to many posters on the National Post, it is clearly the work of SCARY! MUSLIMS! Who are going to kill us all, unless we rally around Dear Leader Stephen Harper, and encourage him to pass more legislation that will allow the CSIS spy agency to monitor our every movement with no oversight. It’s absolutely scary what has been happening lately on the National Post site. Every day there seems to be another story about SCARY. MUSLIMS. And the amount of shrill screaming about this has increased in the comments section as well. I was actually recently banned from posting on this site. My crime? I was posting that not all Muslims were terrorists. And that we should not jump to conclusions. So I was banned. Because I was not joining the hate parade. ---

Something doesn’t add up here, for me. Were there absolutely no fingerprints on anything? I find that very unlikely, don’t you? And why wouldn’t they just put off revealing their find, and simply watch the place, till someone turned up to go in? And how can a water hook up exist without anyone noticing? The generator was stolen from nearby. How is it, when it was reported/investigated no one noticed a very large mound of excavated dirt, quite nearby to the tunnel? I too think it was uni students, just to see if they could or to make a point about the ultimate ineffectiveness of stepped up internal security legislation. At least I hope is wasn’t some abductor building a containment bunker! _Shiver_ ---

Fingerprints don’t help if they don’t lead to someone already in the system. And they did put off revealing the find. It was discovered on January 14. I believe the police only started to talk about it after the CBC ran a story on it. ---
