The Toy Story movies are odd and depressing.

Mad Tv did that skit years and years ago.

Done.

No, it’s far worse than that.

I didn’t care whether they made Ken gay or not, I was just kinda taken out of the movie by the reaction they had the characters give like being horrified Ken has girly handwriting. I didn’t find it offensive Ken was feminine or that they were making jokes about it.

Some of the jokes were funny like Barbie yanking her scarf back, and torturing Ken by ripping up clothes.

Don’t abuse the metaphor. Your parents aren’t literally toys, I doubt you had eight parents, and I’m sure you never locked them in the attic or threw them out in the garbage. But, as you note, you did grow up, move out, and leave your parents behind. The metaphor is there even if the details are necessarily different.

Besides, you’re missing the big point. You’re “Andy” and it’s not Andy’s story. The series was told from the point of view of the toys - i.e. parents. Watch the movies again in a couple of decades when your kids have moved out and you’ll see them in a whole different way.

Actually, there was a stop-motion animated short about exactly this, made LONG before Toy Story was even thought of. It did feature a giant evil blow-up doll, which played a Godzilla-like role, towering over the other toys.
I can’t recall the title, and a quick search doesn’t turn it up (but turns up lots of things I don’t want to access at work), but it came out circa 1980.

I tried to watch it years ago… it just hurt my eyes. I just hate the style of animated movies, and they say butt and ass too often.
