I think Jeff Tweedy would fit right in. And he can reuse his moniker in his other “supergroup” Golden Smog, so he’d be Scot Summit Wilbury.
I was going to suggest Tweedy but damned if I could come up with a Wilbury name for him.
Shakey is right for Neil, but I like Lionel, too. He played a character named Lionel in this crazy film:
Oh, and how about Richard Thompson? I suggest Henry Wilbury.
Sorry for posting so much in a row, but this thread is just so much fun.
So I think that the Wilburys need yet another female member, and that’d be Lucinda Williams, Lucy Wilbury, of course.
You go EinsteinHund!! I like Lucinda/Lucy!
Winona could be Winnie Willbury
Is there an Orville Willbury yet? That’d be a good name, if we can find someone worthy of it.
Grace Potter, girl with a big voice, Gig Willbury.
I’m digging the responses. I understand the desire to find people with connections to the last two survivors, as the band itself came together through connections and friendships, but I’m also liking the picks that are more based on sound and style (which is how I came up with mine).
I always liked the multi-generational aspect of the band, from the oldies (Orbison) to the legends of rock (Harrison, Dylan) to the classic rock (Lynne) to the “new” (Petty).
A few artists I was noodling around with before I posted my picks in the OP were Lady Gaga (Queenie), Jack White (Woodward “Woody”), Springsteen (Tweeter’s a good one!), Jeff Tweedy (Alton) and Nathaniel Rateliff (Leroy).
Emmylou Harris. “Pearl Wilbury”.
Ronnie Hawkins, the Hawk Willbury. I guess he’s still with us.
Got it in just 22 posts! This has been the only suggestion that I actually take seriously.
After all, he was Johnny Cash’s son-in-law.
I came in to mention Jim Parsons as “Sheldon Willbury.” But maybe “Bazinga Willbury” is better.
Neil Patrick Harris as Harper Gideon Willbury. (in homage to his children).
Rufus Willbury. And who needs another name when your real first name is Rufus (Wainwright)?
