They’ve already done [“Slapshot 2: Breaking the Ice.”](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0282171/) with the original three hockey players as the Hansons. So why not a third go-around?

And according to this [entry,](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1245734/) Steve and Jeff Carlson and Dave Hanson are indeed cast as the Hansons for Slapshot 3.

:smack: Made a goof there. Slapshot 3 has already been released. So why not one more go-around?

And with Leslie Nielsen, so you know it is somewhere between good and crap.

Saw him in the only curling movie I can imagine anybody making, much less show on US TV, Paul Gross’ [Men With Brooms.](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0263734/%22%5B/url) It was interesting and fun, but since I’m more a fan of women’s curling, it lacked something.

ETA: That might be boobs. Who was North Shore’s captain a couple years ago? She was cute!

> **Flight of the Phoenix** – the original with Jimmy Stewart, Richard Attenborough, Peter Finch, and Ernest Borgnine was perfect. Why redo it?

To give us more opportunities to look at Hugh Laurie.

> It’s not a remake, and if they shell out the dough for good writers it could be reasonable. Unfortunately, I don’t think they have a chance in hell of touching Bill Murray, and without him, it will be an extreme disappointment. Just imagine trying to get the gang back together after years of being in other stuff. Egon is off at some university doing professor stuff, Venkeman is doing a Billy Mays deal, Raymond Stantz is milking his career as a fortune teller, and Winstons an ex fire dept hero working as a desk jockey. There is all sorts of stuff you could do with that.
>
> Without Bill Murray though, the best they can hope for is mediocre. They also need real writers. It would be tough, but not undoable.
>
> Unfortunately, as with the Pink Panther, hope is not high.

If I can continue the hijack about sequels that aren’t remakes just a little further… People who are interested in seeing a real Ghostbusters III should be informed about the Ghostbusters video game, coming out this summer. Story written by Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis, and with most of the original actors doing voice work. (No Rick Moranis or Sigourney Weaver, sadly.)

> Ghostbusters: The Video Game is a 2009 action-adventure game based on the Ghostbusters media franchise. Terminal Reality developed the Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 versions, while Red Fly Studio developed the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Wii versions. The game was released after several delays in development and multiple publisher changes. In North America, all versions of the game were published by Atari Interactive, while in Europe, the PlayStation 2, PlayStat The game fol...

> I’ll disagree with the earlier post about **King Kong** – I loved Jackson’s film. It wasn’t pointless – it was a considerable re-imagining of the original, especially interesting for how it re-imagines Carl Denham, Ann Darrow, Captain Engelhorn, the _Venture_ itself, and Jack Driscoll – not to mention Kong himself. The special effects were gorgeous, but the screenplay was incredible itself. If you want to see a pointless remake, look at the 1976 travesty with its Lorenzo Semple script.

Here here - Jackson’s **King Kong** remake was wonderful (with a few minor bad moments). IMHO, it really made Kong a character, rather than the original (which I also love), where Kong was much more inconsistent and the human characters were mostly interchangable.

I’ll your praise of the '05 Kong with a small nitpick. I am morally certain (see above for definition of same) that this movie’s Kong was a female, and that her love for Ann Darrow was misplaced maternal affection, not impossible romantic longings.

Ah, well that explains it then: Jackson was really remaking [a different movie.](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075113/)
[Here’s the theatrical trailer](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlHxg2UzCag) for this sadly obscure re-visioning of De Laurentiis’ 1976 epic, which was itself a remake of some other movie. Warning: possibly not safe for human consumption. It was the 1970s, y’know? Don’t look if you’re among those of a certain age and still want to keep kidding yourself about your formative years.
