Those drugs that could cause mania or psychosis – Would those side effects last only during treatment (and perhaps shortly thereafter), or could those be long-lasting or even irreversible effects? Thate are some drugs out there (unrelated to anything involved here, probably) that can cause irreversible neurological damage like that. ---

I have never been on dexamethasone but I have been on related steroids for severe allergic episodes. No, the mental side effects are not permanent, they go away when you get off the medication and it clears your system. I am presuming dexamethasone, being chemically similar and in the same drug category, acts in a similar manner. Meanwhile, though, the effects can be quite startling. ---
