Trump’s only protection from indictment was a Justice Dept guideline that a sitting president can’t be indicted – not that he had perpetual immunity for his actions as president. So (a) it was just a guideline, never tested in the courts and (b) he’s no longer a sitting president. ---

Nixon once declared, of his various shady dealings while in office, “it’s not illegal if the president does it”. Discourse has a hard 10K limit. The mods tried unlocking SRIotD and TTAaCFitM, and others, I think, but they were unable to break past the limit. If a new thread links to the last post in the old thread, the link will appear in the last post. That seems to be the best we can expect unless Discourse is modified internally. ---

So if you have an inconvenient weapons charge or a large debt, visit Trump and he’ll graciously pardon you.
