Trump is such an idiot. His joke about the midterms is that a vote cast in 2018 isn’t as important as a vote cast in 2016 because a vote cast in 2016 was a vote cast for him. Me, me, me, me, me. It’s all that moron is about. So he floats one of his, “they love it when I brag,” jokes, not even realizing the message he’s putting forth. My only consolation is that I know every Republican knows this as well. There must be gallons of Malox flowing in DC in Republican circles. ---

Our greatest negotiator, deal maker, and all around hardass/my way or the highway president has folded on his bedrock demand for North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons - without ever sitting down with the other guy. I ran across [this analysis (op-ed)](http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-males-white-americans-violence-sanctuary-cities-20170803-story.html) the other day and thought it was worthy of mention. Hell, it might even be worthy of its own thread, but I am shit when it comes to lighting up a good thread. \*I examined Centers for Disease Control statistics on murder, gun killings and illegal-drug overdoses among white Americans. My analysis shows that the white Americans who are most at risk of dying from these causes are those who live in predominantly white counties. … Such counties are not limited to one geographical region. … Correspondingly, the white Americans who are safest from such deaths are those who live in racially diverse areas such as Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, where two-thirds of residents are nonwhite, where millions of immigrants live, and where voters favored Hillary Clinton in 2016. Nonwhites also are safer in these areas overall, though rates vary by location.\* Which is to say that the Shitgibbonesque narrative that the “others” are a problem seems to be all inside out. Red is bad for your health and well being while blue and mixed is good for you. Not that many of us did not already know that, but this needs to be a heavily beaten drum. ---

The right is deaf to that drum. Those statistics are way too complicated for the average Republican. They vote with their\* feelings\* not facts. How do you make those statistics jibe with the rights feelings? In short sentences with small words? I really think that Democrats have to make whatever message they decide on be as simple as possible. I read articles by left leaning writers and I’m thinking to myself there is zero chance that anyone without a college education is going to follow this. Fox news recognizes this. Their crap seems tailored for someone with an eighth grade education. Taking the high road is the right thing to do, but we have to make it easy for people. I think one of the reasons that so many , and I’m going to say it, stupid people, hated Hillary was because she made them feel stupid. Same thing with Obama. We have to be wary of that. The Republicans have become the stupid/crazy party, but we need to be inclusive of that very large segment of the population. ---
