The clusterfuck is [starting to hit close to home](http://www.registerguard.com/news/20180709/junction-city-building-explodes-catches-fire-monday-racial-slur-symbol-found-on-building). (Eugene Register Guard) I was in Junction City for business yesterday morning when all the kerfuffle was ongoing. I heard there’d been an explosion, but didn’t learn the full nature of the situation until just now. This racist motherfucker can’t be out of office fast enough for me. ---

One of those “everybody knows everybody and everybody’s business” places. I’m sure your suspicions will be well investigated, but I will be very surprised if it turns out to be that. I believe the sentiment expressed was the one intended. We do have an element of the Trumpian crazies in the area, and their ebullience has been unleashed since his election. It is disturbing to see. Most mark their territory with a Confederate and/or Gadsden flag or a prominently-displayed crucifix. Personally, I appreciate it. Forewarned is forearmed. ---

The words aren’t interchangeable. A cross is just the plain crossbeams in wood, metal, or some other material. A crucifix is a cross with the body of Jesus affixed to it. The latter is mostly a Catholic thing and mostly (though not exclusively) found in church. One hardly ever sees crucifixes displayed in yards. ---
