The White House is now in Day 3 of the new dance craze, The Helsinki Walk-Back. This time, it’s about Putin’s “incredible offer” – where Mueller gets to interrogate the 12 Russians, if Putin gets to interrogate a bunch of Americans on his hit list. (Although Trump only mentioned the quid, not the pro quo.) When asked about it yesterday, Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the president’s team was considering it. Anyway, both marketing firms and propaganda units (such as Russia’s famed Internet Research Agency, headquartered in St. Petersburg) make accounts and sit on them until needed. As we all know, an earlier registration date makes a post seem more “authentic” than does a new one. Since over time the posts are made by different employees (of either the marketing firm or the propaganda outfit, as the case may be), the ‘voice’ of the account will vary quite a bit. This one may be only an automated program, given how generic are the messages being posted: the usual ‘all nations do it’ and ‘this is nothing new’ and ‘wow, you’re naive if you don’t realize that this is just politics’ etc. ---
