Hey, [here is a new way to deflect attention on the Russian connection](https://nypost.com/2018/08/01/tsa-may-stop-screening-passengers-at-150-airports/)! Let’s stop screening people at airports. Granted, a lot of it is “security theater”; however, that does not mean that this is a good idea. Plus–and this is starting to turn into a mantra–can you imagine the outcry if President Obama’s administration had floated the idea? ---

Other than the fact that Donald Trump is psychologically impaired and cannot understand how the world works unless it is directly connected to his enrichment or his penis, the fact that he is pulling off this huge tax scam on people enrages me. Yesterday, I read that many people will get a smaller refund or owe due to his tax plan. I saw this coming a mile off. To fund this “tax reduction” he wants to increase the capital gains tax. This has been used to manipulate the economy for many years. If you have investments and sell a capital asset you will be paying for your neighbors refund. since the price of homes has increased to the point of the ridiculous, having bought that home and planning to deduct the mortgage interest now being out the window, again, you will be paying more tax. Your medical deductions will not meet the minimum to deduct them since he increased the standard deduction, unless they are horrendous. Penalizes elderly and sick. I worked for IRS and the goal has been for many years to take away the itemized deduction option. No president was ready to lie and get it through by telling people they will have a bigger refund. Now he wants to shut down the government. It is incredibly expensive for taxpayers, hurts employees and the citizens who can’t file for their social security, etc. and when they do, have to get behind an even longer queue. No mail. What about Amazon, or Walmart, who depend on good mail delivery? Screw them is Trumps motto since he hates Jeff Bezos anyway. Jealous. He just gives more power to Fedex and UPS and harms the post office. I hate this stupid ignoramus. He disdains law and order but will be calling 911 once he is out of office if he needs help. Of course the taxpayer will have to pay for his secret service when he leaves office. I want him to go away and leave my country alone. His children and grandchildren will be harassed and will have to leave the country like Sadam’s did. He can run his pirating operations from whatever country will have him. ---

Right. Trump wants to Cut capital gains tax by claiming that inflation applies to stocks. So, instead of subtracting the purchase price from the sell price to determine your capital gains like every normal person understands it is done, no, Trump wants investors to deduct the inflation rate because, hey, no fair! It’ll cost $100 billion and the plan is to push it through without consulting Congress. Because, it is all about working families, folks. ---

Quit defining “working families” so narrowly! You think Schedule D fills it self out? That’s work right there, man! Of course, a lot of folks have their accountant do that work, but they still have to keep track of records and such (unless their broker does that for them). At a minimum, they have to sign the return! Unless the files it electronically, I’m not sure how that works for a paid preparer. ---

Its only for small airports that run commuter flights. If you want to kill a bunch of people there are a lot better/softer targets than a propeller plane with 20 people on board, flying between two towns nobody’s ever heard of. ---

I suspect your typical middle- or lower-class citizen holds no stock outside of retirement accounts. So let’s be fair and apply inflation to savings accounts and CDs. So when a family heeds the advice so often given and scrapes together some money for an emergency account, instead of just calculating taxes on the interest paid, deduct the amount lost to inflation and tax what (if anything) is left. That’s fair, right? ---

He has a copy of a book (maybe the complete works of Shakespeare) that is also a nanotech printer that–given wood pulp–can print up another copy of itself when you want it to. But then one copy mutated and the forests of half a continent were turned into copies of Shakespeare.. That’s fair, right? While we’re at it, let’s peg sales tax rates to inflation so that people aren’t forced to pay ever more in tax as prices increase.
