Treason is defined in the constitution as levying war on the United States or providing aid and comfort to her enemies; according to [encyclopedia.com](http://encyclopedia.com) “Long-established doctrine has defined enemies as only those against whom a legally declared state of war exists.” Given that congress has spinelessly abandoned its responsibilities in this area, and allows the president to control the military willy-nilly, we are at nothing but metaphorical war. No war, no treason. If only they had been that clear about high crimes and misdemeanors.
