I recently read Bob Woodward’s book “Fear”. I find when I read such books, I’ll often find a detail or two that is unreported in the press coverage of the book that I find relevant. And I think about it whenever I read a Trump interview — because my first thought is “Are you high, Orange Mushroom Dick? You hate the press, they hate you. You know this is going to be spun against you, why would you open your yap?” Then I remember how I got when I was taking amphetamines — how open and gracious I felt towards people I disliked, and how I would just talk and talk and talk. Jeez, every teenager that wants a job at the Gap or Home Depot has to take a drug test. I wish we could give one to Trump because I’m pretty sure he’s back on Adderal or something similar. Yes, I said “ back on”, apparently he abused those drugs for years. What do you think Pence, McConnell, and Ryan are quietly doing while Trump is tweeting whatever stray thought wanders through his brain? They’re enacted a right wing dream agenda and making sure that those laws stay on his desk to get signed. Yes, the right-wing gets much of its dream agenda with or without Trump. (Actually some of the worst shit — e.g. appointing DeVos and Pruitt to the cabinet — might not have happened without Trump: the more ordinary sociopaths wouldn’t have dared imagine such absurd appointments were possible. Unfortunately that ship has already sailed.) But in some ways the right-wing agenda has been less successful because of Trump. Look at the ways he’s turning his own cabinet against him. Is there a chance Kavanaugh’s nomination will fail and a D-controlled Senate will confirm the next Justice? A Pence/Ryan as Scoundrel-in-Chief wouldn’t have bothered to nominate a criminal, and the nomination would have sailed through. Pence or Ryan wouldn’t be wasting political capital on stupid ideas like the Wall, Trade War, etc.; nor, perhaps, on brazen bigotry like the Arpaio pardon or the sacrifice of Puerto Rico. My hope is that the sheer incompetence and hypocrisy of Trump will be obvious to enough voters that the GOP will lose power for a generation. Is the USA becoming a laughingstock on the world stage? Yes, but again, this may be part of the bitter medicine America needs to come to its senses. Giving Trump access to the nuclear button sounds dangerous, but by now it must be clear that Trump’s nuclear button is just a fake button — the real button is under control of the much saner man called ‘Mad Dog.’ BTW, since I’m not on speaking terms with **Bricker** , would someone please ask him whether he regrets tearing up his Trump ballot? IIRC he was worried about nuclear war with North Korea, but with Kim now wrapped around the fingers of the Great Negotiator that’s not a threat, so **Bricker** must be tickled pink about all the deregulation, etc. Has Trump defunded opera yet? I also disagree with Michael Moore that having Pence as POTUS would allow a debate of ideas. The idea that the policies of Ryan et al form a “philosophy” or are based on “ideas” is absurd. These are just greedy and despicable liars and haters. The only ways they can frame their greeds and hatreds as “ideas” is to tell more lies. ---

He surely knows that his days are numbered, but he might also be calculating that firing him might cost Trump some popularity and might even lead to open rebellion in the Justice Department. Trump can fire virtually anyone he damn well pleases except Pence. But it’s getting harder to do that without consequences. ---
