> I wonder if there is some special reason the White House decided to do this on Thursday? Hmm. Isn’t there some sort of hearing going on that day?

Of course. First the story is that they’re meeting today. That draws attention away from the new Kavanaugh accusations. Then they change the meeting to Thursday, which will draw attention away from Ford’s testimony.

The number three man at the DOJ, behind Rosenstein, is Noel Francisco. Francisco worked for the Bush team on the Florida recount. Just prior to his current position at the DOJ, he worked for the law firm of Jones Day, which is the legal representatives of the Trump election campaigns. This means that if Rosenstein goes, Francisco would have to recuse himself on any situation involving the Mueller investigation. Trump would not be happy about that.

Would he _have_ to recuse himself, or would he be _required_ to?

Is there an actual rule that says he’d have to recuse himself? Or is it just tradition? If the latter, it’s a coin flip at best if he recuses.

Given that statehood would automatically imply two more Democratic senators, I think there is about zero probability that Trump would support statehood regardless of who was in charge.

Doesn’t matter, because Trump has fuck to say about whether or not PR becomes a State or not - it’s up to Congress. I mean, Trump could veto a statehood vote I guess, but it’s never ever coming up sooo…

I notice the Republican quoted responding to the thing stops short of actually criticizing Trump, and criticizes Mayor Cruz, instead.

I doubt if Trump thinks that strategically; he probably couldn’t tell you which way Puerto Rico leans, or how many Democratic senators there are currently. He just knows that somebody in PR pissed him off and he wants to punch back.

I guess that’s why Trump declared Canada to be a security risk to the USA.

It will be interesting to see how things play out when Trump pulls the trigger (to shoot down the Mueller investigation). I doubt if the Republicans will toss Trump over that, but I’m hoping that I am wrong.

Pubbies dump thump if he shuts down Mueller? Never happen. Hell, they’ll probably nominate him for that Nobel prize be so desperately wants.

Is it that they are being told, “Whether your teen daughter is being raped by a priest, prospective Alabama Senator or Supreme Court justice is irrelevant, so long as she is forced to carry the resulting child to term, just as God has always intended”? Or did you have something else in mind?

People do not like to admit they made a mistake.
Removing support of a Republican President may make people believe that you support Democratic beliefs.

Yep. That trumper with a M.Ed. I mentioned earlier is firmly convinced I’m 100% liberal. Why? Because I am 100% against Trump.
