If thump were put into a concrete, rat-infested cell, half-submerged in water with a 3" X 3" window looking out onto an air shaft, and a big screen playing a continuous Power Point presentation of how he has lost every penny he ever had (including the pretend pennies, of which I believe there are the most); how his name has been stripped from every piece of property he ever owned, including real and personal-- signs, monograms, everything; how nobody knows where he is or cares… none of these things would produce one molecule of realization and they certainly wouldn’t trigger any “pondering” of anything except how nothing is, was, or ever will be his fault. And he won’t connect it with any “vanity” anything. The losers of the world did this to him because they ARE losers and he will never be one. It’s a mighty delusion.
