Maybe they just couldn’t whip up the usual banquet due to being short-staffed. As an aside, I wonder if those people who work at the White House can nip down to the kitchen and ask the cook for a quick meal (depending on their position, and their relationship with the cook, I’m sure). More likely, I suppose, there’s some sort of lunchroom. I’m also sparing a moment’s pity for the cooks and chefs there. They’ve gotta be about the best around, and they’re cooking for…Trump. I’m picturing chefs sobbing into their toques, saying “I just can’t take it anymore! Thirty years experience cooking and he wants well-done steaks and Quarter Pounders!” ---

Well I did in one thread propose providing all of California’s fresh water by building a dozen or so biggest-ever coastal nuke desal plants. People weren’t so keen on this idea.
