I don’t see how even a draconian anti-abortion law could construe spontaneous abortion as breaking the law. ---

Nah, that wouldn’t refer to every woman who’s had a period but only to those who’ve ever had a miscarriage. If you can break a deal before it exists, you can abort a pregnancy which doesn’t exist yet. So, every period which involves a never-fertilized egg is the abortion of, not even one, but every potential fetus which might have been produced had that egg been fertilized. Which I find is generally good advice - people who feel the need to repeatedly tell you to believe them are almost certainly lying. ---
