As long as he’s President, he’s protected by his office. He needs that third term to stay safe. On the other hand, he might be a megalomaniac who wants to be King and can’t bear the thought of handing power to somebody else… ---

Why would people/institutions/countries with interest-bearing bonds trade them in for negative interest bonds? ---

Since the Fed only loans to banks, would a negative prime rate amount to little more than a subsidy for banks (mostly the mega- kind)? I mean, they are not likely to pass the low/negative interest rates back to us, based on their behavior history. ---

I mean, with a rate like that, we would not even have to make _any_ payments, we could just let the negative interest gradually erase the debt. ---
