It will ultimately be a futile, impotent, pathetic, humiliating gesture that further splinters this already-fragmented country. Thanks to those who followed my link to the sad and alarming story about why rural voters will not abandon DJT and why Democrats’ well-meaning attempts and promises to help this group are greeted with scorn and disdain. The Dems are SO barking up the wrong tree with rural, uneducated voters. These people are the bonafide “Don’t Tread on Me” “Come and Take It!” group. I can’t think of any way that the Democrats can reach them. They love Donald because he is breaking all the china in the shop, which is what they would like to do. He says and does what they’re thinking and wishing they could say/do so _someone will listen_! Well, the world is listening to Donald! So there! I mean, why should a librarian have to have a 4-year degree (or more)? _(For that matter, why should anyone?)_ A sixth-grader can understand the Dewey Decimal system, _amirite_? Any why pay that librarian $42K per year? If she wants to make that kind of bucks, she can move to the Big City! :smack: ---

What I took from that article was a bedrock belief that there’s not enough to go around. That fundamentally the economy is zero sum and you absolutely have to scrimp, save and take from others. There’s no understanding of just how much wealth exists, that the economy isn’t zero sum and that if they’d just unclench for a moment they might notice. ---

Now while it is certainly possible, maybe even likely, that there is a direct relationship between Trump’s policy decisions and his personal wealth, I don’t think that that connection is something that he would want to assert. ---
