It’s pretty clear at this point that Trump is [not going to participate in any debates in 2020](https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1206581028283965441), and yet his followers will see this as a sign of strength and not the sign of an idiot realizing the limits of his limited capacity. ---

We already know that people don’t actually care about substance when they watch debates. Trump technically ‘lost’ all three debates to Clinton, but it didn’t hurt his standing. People think that we’re going to defeat Trump and Trumpism with epistemology, and that’s a dangerously misguided assumption. Trump will use the ‘debate’ to show off his aggression, in the same way that the alpha chimp flings shit and shakes trees. ---
